Additional Information: Abigail is a funny dog who prefers to speak for herself. So rather than write about her, we've given her a guest spot at the keyboard. Abigail says: “I’ve been described as a “very good dog,” but I’m working on making it to “great.” I’m about 2 yo and when you think about it, that’s perfect: I’m beyond most puppy shenanigans, but I have many years to give my new humans. So far, my house manners have been impeccable! None of that undignified jumping on people, counter surfing, or “accidents” inside. (Oh, wait: I DID chew slightly on the leg of a chair. I said I was MOSTLY beyond puppy shenanigans.)
I’m not a huge morning dog and will likely sleep as late as you do . . . but when I’m up, I’m ready to seize the day! My leash manners are pretty good . . . except when squirrels are involved; then I pull like the sled dog I was possibly meant to be! I love to play with toys and other dogs, and zoomies on hardwood floors make me look like I’m trying to tap dance.
When the human and dog companions in the house want some time to themselves, I love to chew on Kongs, play with toys, puzzles, and games. I've also learned the word sit and am looking forward to learning more tricks with my forever humans. If you also enjoy snuggles and stopping to smell the roses when out on walks, won't you please apply to bring me home?"

City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDCK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Adoption fees: Dogs - $425 (including puppies) unless noted; $200 for senior dogs
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis.
Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
