About Abby
This sweet pea is Abby, and she again finds herself in the middle of a search for a forever home she can call her own. Abby is a 5 year old terrier mix who is a smaller gal, weighing in at 35lbs. In July of 2020, Abby was diagnosed with progressive retinal atrophy. Fast-forward to today, and Abby is nearly completely blind. Although her eyes have aged beyond her years, her body is still young and able! Abby knows lots of basic commands, including: sit, shake, stay, come, etc. She is also fully potty-trained and crate-trained. She does well with other dogs (although given her condition would probably prefer no young[er] puppies), and has also spent some time around other farm animals, including: ducks, chickens, cows, and sheep. She has had very limited exposure to cats, so unfortunately we can’t guarantee how she’d be with them. Because of her limited vision, Abby will need a patient person/family who is willing to help her navigate her new reality. She does a very good job of adapting to her surroundings, but also does experience some slight anxiety if she’s left home alone for extended periods of time. Abby is a gentle gal, but understandably does get startled by loud noises/quick movements (example: the vacuum cleaner, electronics, loud moving objects, kids, etc.). Because of this, she will need a home without young children/toddlers. Their noise + chaos is just simply too much for this sweet girl. Abby does just fine with kids, but much prefers her safe, quiet space. We would recommend a home with children ages (at least) 12+ so they can be respectful of Abby, her space, and help accommodate her needs. She is such an incredibly loving, loyal, sweet, snuggly, and playful girl. We are hopeful we can land her most perfect forever to live out the rest of her years…which we hope are plentiful! đ If you are interested in adopting this beauty, please apply + reach out and ask for Abby! đ„°
