Agustin "Auggie" and Alma are a bonded pair of cockatiels looking for a loving home. They do not do well separated although Auggie does come out of the cage and explores the room and Alma is fine as long as she knows he is close by. Auggie loves a bit too much and has plucked Alma bald. They came from a hoarding situation where they didn't have much enrichment and had stressful conditions. We are hoping with proper enrichment and time out of the cage, Auggie will now find some other ways to entertain himself. Damage to Alma's follicles may be too intense to grow feathers again. Time and the next molt will be telling. Alma has been pretty quiet, but lately has been walking around her cage more and has even decided to come out a few times. She is missing a foot, so requires flat perches and a low long cage  because she falls off her perch often. She can perch on round perches so some natural ones should be provided, but the flat ones are easier for sleeping. Dishes low to the floor are easier for her to eat as bending over and balancing on a perch to get to a dish is difficult. She is fully flighted but is still building up her muscles and lung power from being cage-bound for so long. Neither is hand tamed and are still working on building trust. Auggie likes to whistle and play with toys. He is quite entertaining and will walk over close to a human to whistle and have a "chat" in cockatiel chitter. Auggie will go back into his cage on his own at the end of the day when his favorite seed is put in the cage so that is the only time it is made available. These two need a home with understanding patient humans. Their age is unknown, but they are certain to entertain anyone who adopts them with their unique personalities and antics.  The adoption fee for the pait is $100.00. Sweet 9 month old Boxer baby Axel is still looking for his family.  Axel is an amazing bouncing boy who loves everyone he meets. While we were told he was deaf initially, we do think he has some hearing, and may be only unilaterally deaf. He is  happy and playful the way a well adjusted boxer should be. He is dog friendly and crate trained, and working on his house manners. He is excelling with this training and needs a family that will continue it. His foster says while he is bouncy and energetic he can also be lovingly clingy and lay next to you for hours. Axel has been introduced to a cat in his foster home.  He does not chase the cat but likes watching her and is very curious. He is very cuddly to his people and enjoys car rides and adventures. He loves lounging in the sunshine, barking at the deer in the field, and getting the zoomies all around his yard. Meet Bryce!  Bryce is a 12 week old Deaf Dalmatian Puppy. He may look sweet and innocent, but underneath those spots and puppy eyes is a whirlwind of energy. This boy does not sit still unless he's sleeping. He is also fearless, headstrong, confident, and smart. That combination with energy is a recipe for trouble unless you are extremely committed to consistent, long term positive reinforcement training, and plenty of exercise.  He loves to rough-house & play with any dog and person he meets, and is slowly learning appropriate play with humans does not include his teeth. He is very food motivated, which will make training easier, but may quickly learn that counters and trash cans are  an excellent source of food unless boundaries are set. Bryce is also very talkative; he has no problem voicing his grievances that his food is not happening fast enough or he needs some attention. He is learning basic obedience hand signals, sleeps in his crate, and is working on potty training. Older children in the home are preferred. Meet Buddy who has been training to be accepted into the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation but unfortunately is not eligible due to the formation of spondylosis in a couple of his discs. This could be genetic or due to early trauma. It doesn’t slow him down and we wouldn’t have known at all if not for doing the X-rays prior to his travel.  Buddy would have rocked that program!  Now Buddy is looking for a family.  He is an AWESOME dog who is active, fun, dog-friendly, people-friendly! Buddy has been blossoming in another rescue/training org’s care since October and  he is finally ready for his new forever. Buddy is somewhere between 5-8. He has nice teeth but the formation of spondylosis suggests he may be a little older than 2 (which we originally thought). He’s neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, parasite-free and now he comes with a full set of X-rays! He would be an excellent sport or search dog in the right home. The criteria for Buddy to be a “working dog” is that we have to ensure he lives in the home with his family (not in a working kennel) and that when he retires, he retires into a home. Buddy would also make an excellent pet for an active person with a fenced yard. He needs to burn energy so the apartment/condo life isn’t for him. He would love a dog friend, too! Duke is a 4 year old Great Dane loveable guy that his foster calls a "gentle giant."  He is very gentle and sweet with the foster's children and is impressively tolerant of the foster's hyperactive shepherd mix dog.  They play, walk and sleep well together.  He is definitely house-trained.  He does well left alone with or without his foster mate.  He does great in the car, and was an angel during his bath.  Duke likes to be with the family and get back rubs.  He is content in the backyard but seems to love the chance to gallop at full speed for a little while when the foster takes him for a jog.  He is food motivated and training with treats works well with him. He has not been cat tested.   Despite his very thin appearance Duke has maintained the same weight for his adult life and has had regular vet checks and bloodwork that was unremarkable.   At the time you are seeing this post, Duke is still available for adoption. Julieta, a Moluccan Cockatoo, also known as a Salmon-Crested Cockatoo, came to Green Dogs Unleashed from a hoarding home with no information about her age.  Moluccans may live up to 70 years. Julieta has been vetted and appears to be a healthy, energetic adult bird.  She does have an area on her belly that has been plucked, and time will tell whether the feathers on the area will grow back.  Predominantly a soft pink color, she has the distinct and beautiful salmon pink crest which she'll raise when she is interested or excited.  Her underwings and underside of her tail are yellow.  Julieta has a sweet whistle, but is also capable of raucous shrieks and calls. She is not a bird for an apartment or townhouse unless you have very understanding neighbors.  She's shown an inclination to dance along with music and we're still trying to figure out her favorite genre.   Moluccans are large birds with large needs. From the size of their cage (bigger is better!) to the amount of attention and exercise they need.  They have a very powerful beak and are not well-suited for children, and Julieta is no exception.  She likes to climb around and will happily shred paper and wood blocks and toys. Julieta LOVES attention, and she'll let you know if she feels you're not paying her enough attention.  That being said, with patience and positive training to trust her person she can be a devoted companion.  Julieta's adoption donation fee is $400. Nothing like a big happy Sundae to start off your Summer!   This amazing girl is Sundae.  Probably one of the sweetest Dalmatians we have ever met who will love you unconditionally and play with you and your kids ALL day. Sundae enjoys nothing more than spending her time with her family which includes 4 small children ages 2 to 8.   While Sundae might be deaf – she loves to chat you up. She will tell you when its play time and crawl in your lap when its cuddle time. Sundae is an active energetic 2 year old and her new family must have a big FULLY FENCED yard that gives her space to RUN RUN RUN. She is absolutely phenomenal with children and would prefer to live in a home with kids to play with (all ages).  While Sundae can can make doggy pals when introduced slowly and properly with more laid back friends, she is very dog reactive when meeting new dogs, when on a leash, and if put into social situations that are not fully well managed.   She is NOT a dog that is going to be okay at a dog park, or at doggy daycare, and She wants to be the only leading lady in your life so, we are looking for a home without other dogs, and without a need for her to socialize regularly with other dogs.   Preferably a home that also doesn’t require regular walks in a busy community where she will be constantly approached by other dogs.    Let’s just say she is more into people and cats for her daily life. She would love a home that keeps her busy as she will find trouble if she is bored. She knows that kitchen counters hold all the good stuff, so continued work with positive reinforcement training is a must.  You like snacks, so does she! She will lay and snack with you all night, because Sundae is also a Netflix and Chill kinda girl. Sundae has been through basic training here at GDU, walks nicely on a leash when away from other dogs, and knows a variety of hand signals like Sit, Down, Stay, Come, in addition to several cute tricks.    She is also housebroken…..And while we have been working so hard on not jumping – she just cant help herself to want to crawl into everyone’s arms.   She also does get a bit excited when seeing new people and has been known to tinkle a bit with excitement, but who amongst us doesn’t have that issue every now and then ;).  Due to Sundae’s concerns with other dogs, we will not be making an exception for the fenced yard requirement, so please do not ask.   We want her to be able to live a happy, stress free life with her new family, without to concerns of other dogs in her space.   You can learn more and apply to adopt this amazing and stunning girl at greendogsunleashed.com  At the time you are seeing this post, Sundae is still available for adoption.
