About Alfie (LOCAL, mm) Handsome boy
Hi there! My name is Alfie and I moved to Canada on May 18th, currently living at my great foster in Vancouver and here is some info about me:
Breed: Dutch/Lab mix
Age: 10 months
Gender: Male
Weight: 27 kg
Hello lovely humans, I’m here to tell you more about me. I was born in a small Middle East. I remember when I was only weeks old, someone came and took me and my other siblings from my mom. I remember it was really difficult for us and we were all crying because we wanted our mommy. I remember that horrible person had cut out our ears and it was blood everywhere. 2 of my siblings died from bleeding and weakness. One day I tried to escape but then I was attacked by a motorcycle and my right leg got broken really bad. Someone on the neighborhood called authorities to come and take me and kill me but there was this nice lady who you can also see on my vid saved my life. It was like a miracle, and I never forget her kindness. She then called a rescue group to come and help me. A kindhearted person came and took me to hospital for surgery. It took my couple of months to feel much better but now I am fully recovered and in Vancouver, can't wait to explore all the fun stuff.
I am a boy with full of energy. I love all humans but sometimes afraid of some men, slow introductions would be great. Now that I am in Vancouver, my amazing foster takes me to parks and I do really great with other dogs the only thing is I sometimes feel overwhelmed with couple of dogs come close to me, still trying to settle to new environment cause where I used to be I never could go to park and meet other dogs, I was always locked up in a room at shelter so I need some time to adjust to my current amazing life! I am open to training and love to learn all the tricks you can teach me. I am not house trained obviously since I never lived in a home but my foster is really happy about me showing and going toward door when I need to do business :)
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems!
Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a day or two of arrival. After your dog has settled in, check out courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
I have been, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. Due to my age, I will be spayed once I'm with my family in vancouver.
My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
Due to ongoing limits on Vancouver (YVR) flights, additional fees will apply if I have to fly through another city. Unaccompanied Cargo costs within Canada range from $275-$500 per dog (size depending). LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. NOTE: once I find a family, I will be on the first available flight out of the Middle East seeing as I need to leave here ASAP! If a direct flight to Vancouver is not immediately available, the cost to fly me via unaccompanied cargo from Montreal/Toronto to Vancouver will not be optional. If you would like to increase the chance of me coming sooner, my rescuer may be able to secure a cargo flight from the Middle East. This cost will likely be between $1200-3800 USD, dependent on size.
Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website.
[MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
