Aspen is very smart, gentle, and loving. She gets along with other playful dogs and would love another fun, furry sibling in her new home.  This girl is good with kids and dogs. She plays with her foster sibling who is 3 year old dog off and on most of the day. She loves toys of all kinds and has no problem "stealing" them from another pup!  Make sure to have a variety on hand for her to play with! Aspen does not require another pup in the home as long as her family makes sure to give her lots of love, attention and spends a lot of time with her playing and burning off energy. Give this girl a yard with a 5ft fall fence so she can run and play.  She loves the out-of-doors and has a fun time chasing any of those little creatures like rabbits, cats, squirrels or birds so if they find their way into the yard off she goes giving chase! She would much rather be in the yard then walking on a leash.  She hasn't tried to jump so a 5ft fence should be fine; she will dart at an open gate so keep those latches/doors secured at all times.  Aspen also loves the car so feel free to pack her up when you are on the go. She will be a great road trip companion. Plus she is good with strangers; just a little shy at first.  With some love and attention, her beautiful Aspen smile will greet everyone! She has the shiniest, black coat with the cutest ears that go this way and that. Plus, she has a lady swish, swag, just a little limp that makes her have the cutest little Aspen shuffle. She isn't quite crate trained at this time; she sleeps in a spare room and does fine.  She is already potty/house trained so no need to worry about that.  She uses a doggie door at ther foster house and let's herself out when she has to go.  Aspen requires a home that is within 1 hr of Wake Forest, NC. Aspen is Heartworm Positive (HW+) and will go through her medical care here; our rescue will pay for her treatment.   So what are you waiting for?  Aspen is just a perfect girl so wait no longer to fill out an application and get approved for adoption!  DOB 06/01/2019, Lab mix. As part of Aspen's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Aspen, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Baxter's cute underbite will make you smile! He has a great personality, and he can be describe as happy, energetic, and loves attention. He loves to be with his people and leans into you for a ear or neck rub! He is dog friendly and does best with bigger dogs. At his young age, another furry playful friend in the home would be best. He hasn't had an opportunity to be around kitties so he has not been cat tested.  As far as kids go, he is good with older kids/teenagers due to size/energy/playfulness. Baxter is social with people & dogs. Baxter is crate trained and house trained. Baxter sleeps all night in the crate and is quiet. Since he is still young, he goes out to potty every couple of hours to build his routine and ensure his success.  Someone who is gone for long periods of the day, would not be a great fit for Baxter and his age. He has a few road trips and seems to be fine and adjusting well to the world on wheels. In addition, he is doing well practicing on walking nicely on a leash! He is eager to please and is also easily redirected with positive reinforcement only training. He needs someone to spend time training him as he is still young and learning. He enjoys to be outside on a sunny day. In addiiton, he LOVES to play in the water so a doggy pool would be an ideal activity for him and his family to play in the back yard 💦! Baxter also loves chew toys to play with and he is sweet and shares toys easily.  He is also up for a good game of tug-o-war! Little Baxter could be in a condo, apartment or townhown; he does not require a fence. He does; however, require a family that would then commit to lots of daily walks, playtime and activities to burn off his energy.  Remember he loves being outside, so a family that enjoys the outdoors is best suited for him. At his age, he is high energy, so no couch potato for this cutie!  Baxter would do well with a family that has time to walk him a few times a day. He wants to spend time with his humans in the house but tends to be a bit overexcited running around and not setting down if doesn't get the appropriate outside energy burnt off and giving him lots of time for exercise. He would love to join your fun family.  He's DOB 01/22/2022, 35lb male Pug mix. As part of Baxter's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Baxter, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Bentley is a happy boy. He is very independent and talkative. Like many little dogs, he has a BIG personality. So if you are ready for a lot charisma in a little body then mabye this little guy is right for you? When meeting new dogs, in general, he needs a little time to get to know them before they are buddies. Bentley is good with submissive dogs and will need to be adopted into a family with other furry, friendly four-legged family members. He would be an unhappy little guy with out doggie friends to live with so if you have a furry friend or two that would love another happy pup to join your gang, maybe Bentley is the one?!  Bentley enjoys car rides and will be happy to go whereever you go, so pack him up and take him along with you.  As you know, he won't take up too much space! He is a roadtrip fan! Bentley is leash trained and loves to be the leader on walks. He also loves toys of all kinds...soft, plush, squeaky, etc. so much so he can be a bit of toy hog. Make sure to load of the toy basket for this boy! He enjoys a fun game of fetch or tug-o-war as well.  He is just a fun, playful guy! Bentley is already house trained and crate trained, so check those two boxes of your list!  He goes outside 4-5 times a day for potty breaks and a little fresh air. He stays in his crate and sleeps while his foster mom is working and does fine. Speaking of the home, he does NOT require a fence so could be a good pup for a condo, townhouse or apartment. When outside, he wants his person to be outside with him. These are just some of the benefits of adopting an older dog; skipping some of the crazy puppyhood stages can be a nice change of pace. Bentley does have a few "habits" and can be greedy with his food, treats and toys. He will resource guard these things, so his person will need to be aware of this and know how to properly work with him on these behaviors. Bentley is a bit of greedy guy and will try and "grab and go" when his foster mom is eating. Therefore, he is in his crate during meal time.   This little guy needs proper introduction to strangers as he can be protective of his person, so that behavior will need to be monitored and redirected. Bentley is timid around strangers; he needs a little time to get to know them as he is a bit shy at first. Little people are not his thing so no children in Bentley's new fur-ever home. They are just too loud, too active, too much for his older years. He isn't really an attention seaker. He prefers to be near you but not necessarily on you. He loves attention when he wants it. He wants to be petted when he initiates it; but he lets you know when enough is enough. Bentley DOB is 08/05/2015; male Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix. As part of Bentley's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Bowie - yep, after David Bowie, I just love his music and other music, too.  So, "if you like big dogs and you can not lie", you are gonna love me, I certain.   I love other dogs my size or bigger that have a lot of fun, positive, energy so we can play throughout the day.  I have 2 younger foster brothers that I love playing with in their big yard. We have a lot of room to run and every chance we get, we go to the stream and get wet and dirty.  So if you have a 5ft fenced in yard and at least one other dog that would love a playful, new brother, let me know!  I will definitely want to have furry friends in my fur-ever home! Some kids from the neighborhood rode by on the bikes last week, and I wanted to play with them, so I ran up to them.  They, too, looked like they were having a lot of fun - my favorite thing!  My foster mom introduced me to these new kids, and they are really cool. I was so excited to see them that I kept trying to jump on them to tell them HI! My foster Mom, was telling me that I am too big to jump on them, becuase I may accidently knock them down.  That's not what I was trying to do; I was just happy to meet them. I am just a one year old baby in a big boy body and learning how to contain all of my happy, go-lucky, big-smiling, energy can be a little difficult.  I am definitely working on that.  (No little kiddos, though do to my size and energy.)  I'm eager to please for sure and want to learn!!  Let me tell you some of the other things I dong.  I've also been learning how fun it is to hang out with my foster dad when he's in the woodshop. He drops pieces of wood on the floor that I pick up and take care of for him. I've been training with my foster mom to "COME" when called, SIT before going outside and LAYING DOWN when asked. She gives me treats (most of the time) when I listen to what she wants me to do.  Like lots of brothers, my foster brother gets me in trouble sometimes when he distracts me from coming back right away. I like to be with humans and other dogs.  So I really want a family who will have someone home most of the time. Or if you are on the go, that's fine to, I LOVE car rides, too, so pack me up and take me with you.  I am a great road trip companion.  I love everyone I meet and everyone thinks I am so adorable, so bring me with you, it'll be fun!  I am good on a leash too, but will pull if I see something exciting. Cats really fascinate me and so far, I haven't taken the hint from my foster kitties, that they don't really like me back.  Silly, kitties what's not to like?  So if you have cats make sure they are big dog savvy and can hold their own. I AM A CUDDLER and licker, so I am happy to share lots of love with you!  I will easily bring a smile to your face and "wash your worries" away with lots of kisses.  If you have room for me on your bed, I would love to lay with you at night, but I also don't mind just laying on my own bed in your room. can I come check out your place? I do have a few quirks, noone is perfect. I can be selfish with toys and food at times - working on that.  A family who will continue working with me and helping understand will be awesome.  I try really hard to be a very good boy. From Bowie himself, "I'm looking for my forever home. Don't get me wrong, I really love my foster family, they have been great. But they are only taking care of me temporary so that I don't have to be in the shelter.  Can you be my forever family??  Thanks for checking me out. I think you will agree I'm a very handsome guy and would make your family holiday photos so much better this year. Please contact my foster mom to come see me, I look forward to meeting you." DOB 6/29/21. He is a 57lb, Lab/Pit mix.As part of Bowie's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Bowie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less
