About Marley

Adoption Fee: $85

Marley is a super sweet and loving 4 year old tortico (calico and tortoiseshell) with adorable white feet. She is very attentive and wants to snuggle on you whenever you are up for it! She and her sister Macy are owner relinquishments and came to foster kitty city a bit shy but are both warming up very quickly and getting quite confident and social.

Marley has certain specific requests (demands): she wants to lay on your chest for 20 minutes before bed every night and purr and then fall asleep for a bit with her chin on your hand. She doesn't sleep there all night and often migrates up against human side/legs, to the foot of the bed or off into her own nearby perch. But she rejoices in those 20 minutes and they are special. She is looking for someone who would cherish that time with her and enjoy her in all her tortitude (tortico?). She is talkative, seeming to enjoy narrating her life at whatever volume feels appropriate for her. She hasn’t been super playful yet perhaps because her sister is a hunter and steals the toy. She would be cool to be adopted with her sister but could also do well as someone’s special only princess. The excitment at foster kitty is too much for her and she would prefer a quiet home.

Colonel is approximately 5-6 year old male Persian. The problem is that no one told Colonel he is a Persian. He is quite a feisty cat and probably cannot be trusted around children or certain dogs. He has no problem enforcing his wishes with a swipe of his claws and has been known to draw blood. You can't blame him for his murderous instincts, after all, he is a cat, albeit a Persian, and a distinguished Kentucky Colonel - a title of honor bestowed by a govenor who long ago recognized the Colonel for being a highly superior house panther.  Because one of the first things you need to know about the Colonel is that he deserves your highest honor and respect for all of his demands and wishes. Or else.  As a Persian, Colonel will have special grooming needs along with his long list of cat demands. Amongst the top of the demand list is a quiet and comfortable bed located near a sun beam. He also enjoys following you around the house -- this is not to show affection but mostly to monitor for any fallen food. He is quite fond of his treats and needs to be hand-fed due to his extremely flat face and difficulty seeing what is in front of him or picking food off the ground. He will rub up against you, which may lead you to believe he wants to be pet, but again, this is just Colonel fooling the human enemy. The only way he will accept pets is wtih payment of a treat. His diet consists only of the highest quality wet food. While he will eat all forms of wet food, certain forms are more likely to end up stuck to his magnificant facial hair, so for grooming purposes, he recommends shredded chicken or turkey. Another top demand is play time. Colonel is very skilled at murdering toys, particularly toys on strings and jumps with an atheltic prowness that is remarkable considering he is a Persian. Again, no one told him he is a Persian. He loves extended play sessions, growls and destroys toys with great vigor and will occassionally end a play session by purring excitedly and accepting pets. I do not advise letting your guard down around Colonel for what may again, be a trap for the human enemy, but just sometimes, he seems to forget he is laying a trap and cannot help but turning, just briefly, into a real cuddly Persian.  He does seem to enjoy other cats but also could do okay as a solo cat, provided that you have time for enough companionship. His bedtime is promptly at 9pm and he generally enjoys sleeping in the morning but is available for visitors, conversation, and toy murder during the day.  Anyone who adopts Colonel should be prepared that he may require a few weeks adjustment time. However, under all his hardened exterior lies an amazing, hilarious, fierce, and perhaps loving cat. It is clear that he has been mistreated in prior placements and has a few scars to prove it but despite his initial distrust of strangers, he is ready to be loved for all his quirks and eccentricites and for the magnificent being he is. Persian experience is preferred for adopters but the most important thing is finding the right forever home where Colonel will live out the rest of his years being properly admired and adored. For that reason, please have patience with the adoption process. No out-of-state adoptions are allowed.  He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and in good general health.  show less

Oh, this sweet, sweet boy! Though the smallest (runt, maybe?), he is the friendliest and floppiest! Lucky is curious and confident. He tries so hard to keep up with his bigger/faster siblings and often plays by himself when he can't. He loves chewing toys, stuffies, and tennis balls. He is eager to please and quick to learn. He loves people and sits calmly at their feet when he meets them - waiting to be pet and give you a lick. He's gentle and just wants a person of his own to snuggle him all the time. Kids: Lucky is great with kids and has not once nibbled on little fingers. He likes kids to get down on his level to pet him so he can lay in their lap. Lucky is around kids age 6+ in his foster home. Cats: Lucky isn't fast enough to keep up with his foster felines and doesn't even bother with trying to keep up. He has no issue with cats and hopes they one day get close enough for him to get a smell or lick in. Dogs: Lucky is so great with other dogs of all sizes. He approaches with confidence and sits in front of his large retriever foster siblings hoping for a snuggle. Recommendations: Lucky needs a home that will be patient with his learning of what home life is all about. While he does adapt quickly, many things (coffee grinder, dishwasher, vacuum, etc) are so new to him. His new family should be ready to continue working with him on house training, basic commands, and leash skills. Apply at mgarcolorado.org show less

Macy is a super sweet and loving 2 year old gray tabby with the adorable white feet. She is very attentive and wants to snuggle on you whenever you are up for it! She and her sister Marley are owner relinquishments and came to foster kitty city a bit shy but are both warming up very quickly and getting quite confident and social. Macy is a bit more shy than her sister. Most other animals (cats - and especially dogs) scare her. Young kids are also too much for her. She cohabitates with - and sometimes loves on her sister Marley, and would do well adopted with her sister but would feel overwhelmed if there were other pets in the house. She may be happy to be her own special princess for some lucky human(s). I know Macy wants to spend more time with me but she is hesitant because she is afraid of the other foster cats. She loves to hunt, cant resist the laser or the da bird. She purrs and rolls over on her belly and wants to be loved but is also nervous with certain touches and needs a gentle patient soul. Are you Macy’s gentle soul?  The excitment at foster kitty is too much for her and she would prefer a quiet home.  Are you Macy's human(s)?
