Bodhi is a friendly, affectionate 11 year old male. He lives to be with his human but is fine staying at home with a doggie sibling. Playful, goofy and social all describe this handsome senior. Bodhi likes toys and walks, however short walks only are recommended to accommodate his somewhat limited mobility. He has difficulty with stairs and would do best in a home without them. This smart pup knows basic commands (no, sit, come) and is working on his leash manners. Bodhi will be an excellent companion for someone who wants a gentle, medium energy dog. There is no adoption fee for our seniors and they come with medical coverage for life! show less

Meet Cinna Bun from our Trudy Bun litter!  Earlier this year, we rescued sweet 10 year old GSD Trudy who surprised us with 4 puppies on March 9.  First born Cinna Bun was the strongest of the bunch, beating her littermates in all developmental benchmarks.  Our vet expects that Cinna will be larger than her petite 55 pound mom.  Cinna Bun has been raised in a large pack with German Shepherds of all ages.  She has learned to be respectful of older dogs and their space and has had exposure to cats since she was born.  She has the potential to be cat-friendly with continued exposure and training.   Cinna Bun loves to be active and explore, but has a natural off-switch and will settle down on her own and cuddle.  She has begun basic leash work, obedience, potty training, and crate training.  Cinna Bun loves to share her appreciation through kisses—lots and lots of puppy kisses!  Her Foster Momma has issued her a full Licker License and she is ready to serve. Cinna Bun is located in Southern California, spayed, up to date on all puppy vaccinations, and ready to find her forever home. Will you be the one? show less

Gizmo is a stunning 10 year old male who enjoys hiking.  We suspect that he may be younger based on how athletic he is.  This curious boy wants to learn about everything his humans do.  He appreciates the opportunity to sniff new things that he doesn’t yet understand.  Gizmo enjoys being with other dogs, and although he can be selective, he politely shares his favorite toys with his furry foster sister.  Above all, Gizmo’s tender heart desires to be close to his leader and to please the ones he loves.  If his human disappears from his eyesight, he quickly jumps up to find them.  Gizmo will make a wonderful companion and adventure buddy for an active adopter with large dog expereince.   Please check out Gizmo's video: https://youtu.be/H2f7X8CTpqw show less

Lorelie T is a beautifully proportioned, classic looking female "pocket" German Shepherd.  Lorelie is gentle and affectionate, and loves going on walks.  Her mobility is typical for a senior dog, having no problems with short walks and easily navigating 3-4 steps.  Lorelie is good with some dogs, but she can be selective about who she opens up to and plays with.  She would do best as an only dog in a home without young kids. Lorelie T Summary: - Female, 13 yrs old, 53 pounds - Good with adults, older kids, some dogs - TBD - cats What's Next:  Lorelie is ready for adoption!  Thulani does not charge an adoption fee and provides medical coverage for life.  All Thulani dogs go to their forever homes with a supply of food, a cushy bed, and toys if wanted.  All dogs pass a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR.  The tests are not intended to assess how smart the dog is but are important for TSGSR to determine if the dog is expected to be safe in a family home.  The tested behaviors check to see if the dog will guard or protect food or toys from people, will tolerate handling all over its body (including ears, nose, lips to check teeth, lifting paws, belly, back, and gently pulling the tail).  This dog remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies. show less

Mighty Max T aka Max has a kindness and gratefulness that truly touches your heart. Despite being visually impaired, this smart boy mapped out his foster mom's home, backyard and even his daily walks within the first few days of arriving!  Max loves his people and greets them with great enthusiasm and joy. He jumps up and down repeatedly which has earned him the nickname "Mexican Jumping Bean".  Although Max's age was estimated as 10, we suspect he is younger.  He has good mobility and would be happy to go on long daily walks with you.  Because Max doesn't see well and is exhuberent, adopters will need to be careful when offering trears and toys. Max likes other dogs, however he can miss body language and be surprised. He would do best with a calm canine sibling that is preferrably a large breed older female or as an only dog.  show less

Nena T is a healthy, social pup with a playful spirit who came to Thulani after her long-time owner passed away.  Nena loves to be around people and will bond tightly.  She is also totally fine alone at home if you need to go out for the day.  Nena is well behaved, has had obedience training and responds to a large number of commands including sit, heel and quiet.  She gets along with other dogs after careful introduction and occasionally needs an initial adjustment period.  Her ideal doggie sibling would be a larger, male dog.  She is curious about cats and gets a little excited when she sees them, however she has never lived with one, so a slow introduction would be needed.  Nena is healthy and seems much younger than her 13 years.   There is no adoption fee for our seniors and they come with medical coverage for life! show less

Nikita is a gentle and affectionate senior with a calm demeanor.  This elegant 10 year old enjoys short walks and is a model citizen on a leash.  Nikita greets people and dogs nicely, although she can initially be apprehensive about other dogs and benefits from reassurance on the first greeting.  She gets along with aduts, older kids and dogs.  She has visited homes with cats, and we think she could be ok living with one.  She is quiet and loving and continues to let her personality shine more each day in her foster home.  show less

Odinn is a social 8 year male who likes people of all ages.  At home, he is mellow and content to simply lounge around with his humans close by.  He particularly enjoys mealtimes, and will forage for snacks when left alone.  Athletic Odinn loves his walks and is able to do 5 miles.  He also loves to climb, so a secure yard is a must as he may come looking for you!  This 66 pound senior likes to play with other dogs, and we think he would be ok with cats.  Odinn is an all around great dog who will easily fit into a wide range of living situations! Titus is an affectionate 11 year old vision impaired male who adores people of all ages.  He does well with the teens in the foster home as well as a younger child who visits.  Titus is easy going and relaxed around other dogs, calmly greeting them with a wagging tail and sniffs.  This laid back guy loves to spend his day lounging about and napping on his soft pillow.  Although he has free access to the backyard at his foster home, he looks forward to short morning and evening walks.  He may move slowly, but he is a model citizen on leash.  When he isn't sooozing, Titus enjoys chewing on his toys.  This eager-to-please pup is the perfect choice for a family with a relaxed lifestyle.   show less
