About Azalea

Azalea is a sweet, loving, happy girl who is just over a year old. She weighs about 56 lbs, and will love you and your family like you've known each other your whole lives. She has enjoyed the other dogs that she has met so far, and would enjoy a home where she can live with dogs because they give her confidence. She is currently being fostered with a kid in the home who she adores. She hasn't met a person or animal that she doesn't love, and her gentle energy will compliment anyone's home. Azalea is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed, and her adoption fee is $200. You can apply to adopt her at mpravl.org

Hi, my name is Barry! If you are looking for the most playful and energetic dog around, I am it! I am a male, neutered Chiweenie (that's a mix between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund). I weigh about 12 lbs of pure muscle! I was born in January 2018, so I am 4 years old now. My favorite thing in the whole wide world is to play fetch with my favorite rubber ball! Just throw me the ball a couple of times and I will instantly become your best friend! I can literally play fetch for hours! When I am not playing fetch, I like to wrestle and chase my older brother Charlie the Chihuahua (check out his Bio too!).  I love cats, but the only other dog I get along with is Charlie, and please no kids for my new home! I am super playful and have a lot of energy, but I still love to cuddle up with you and give lots of kisses! I don't have any medical issues at this time. You'll notice a scar on my forehead from a small hair follicle tumor I had surgically removed last year (don't worry, it was not cancerous!).  Although I do love to cuddle, when it comes to bedtime, I prefer to be by myself in my own puppy bed.  (I don't like to share my bed with anyone, I need my beauty sleep!)  I have been with my family since I was 6 months old, but unfortunately my family has to move across the country.  That move would be too stressful for me, and my momma didn't want me to be miserable in a new city. I hope to find a home with only one or two humans who would be willing to take me and my big brother Charlie together.  Give me a chance and you will end up with the most loving and playful pup in the world! show less

Buddy is currently being trained in an 8 week program called New Leash On Life at the Craggy Prison in Asheville, where the dogs learn basic obedience, house-training, crate-training and a few neat tricks. Local dog trainer, Jenny White, of Dog-Ed, supervises the training. Buddy is a 2-year-old, chocolate Lab mix. He is a big, 70-pound baby who wants to cuddle with his people! Buddy is never late for a meal and loves his treats. Just look into his beautiful amber eyes and you will fall in love immediately. Buddy’s perfect family will love to hike and spend time outdoors with him since he is an energetic boy. He also walks well on a leash. He is good with most dogs, but needs to be fed separately if there is another dog in the house because he doesn't want to share his food. He has done very well with his basic obedience training.  He will be ready to go to his new home when he graduates on Friday, Feb. 4. If you are interested in learning more about any of the dogs in the program, please email pets@mpravl.org.  If you are interested in meeting a dog in the program, please fill out an application at www.mpravl.org/adoption-application-dog.  Meet and greets can be arranged before a dog graduates.   The adoption fee for dogs in this program is $250, and they are all spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for heartworm, and kept on monthly flea/heartworm prevention.  We would love for the dogs to go straight from graduation to their forever homes. show less

Hello! My name is Charlie! I am the most adorable and loyal dog around! I am a male, neutered Chihuahua. My birthday is April 27, 2016, so I am almost 6 years old. I weigh about 13 lbs right now, so I'm more of a chunky boy. Some of my favorite things to do are to run around and chase or wrestle with my little brother Barry (check out his bio too!), or to cuddle up with the cats. But my favorite thing in the world will be to cuddle up on the couch with you getting endless belly rubs! I am good with cats and dogs as long as I am introduced slowly to them in a calm environment. I’m super affectionate! I love to lay my head on your lap, give kisses and snuggle next to you on the couch when allowed. But please give me some time to get used to you first! I have a little PTSD from a stranger that scared me very badly when I was only 9 weeks old, so I take some time to get used to new humans. I am also very smart and always come to you on command (as long as I get some treats or cuddles of course!).  I also love to sing; just play some opera for me and I will sing for you!  I am not good with kids, so please no kids for my home!  I also have some allergies you should know about. I am allergic to chicken and can't eat any food that is chicken based. I also have seasonal allergies that sometimes make my skin and paws very red and itchy. When that happens, I need a special bath with a prescription chlorhexidine soap (you can get that from the vet).  I hope to find a home with only one or two humans that will be patient with me to feel comfortable with them in a calm environment. Give me a chance and I will be the most loyal dog you've had!  show less
