Buttercup is a 1.5-2 year old Border Collie mix weighing about 35lbs. Buttercup was dumped at a shelter in New Mexico with 2 day old puppies. Some crummy human actually dumped a terrified, exhausted, brand new Momma at the shelter to die alone trying to protect her puppies. When the shelter moved her into a cage with her puppies she tried to protect them (obviously) so the shelter immediately deemed her unadoptable, but was going to adopt out her puppies at less than a week old. Keep in mind, these shelters in this area are dealing with almost zero government funding and hundreds of dogs being dumped on them, so this is not their fault. We couldn't let Buttercup die this way and we didn't want her to be separated from her puppies that she loved so much. We scrambled to get a transport together to get them all here to CO where they would be safe. Once the puppies were old enough Buttercup went to our board and train program since we had to do our do dilligence since the shelter had deemed her "aggressive". The day she went to our trainer, our trainer called us within the hours and said Buttercup was the sweetest happiest girl and she did not need board and train, and could be put up for adoption. We decided to go through with the training program since she was already there and we knew it would set her up for success no matter what. We do strongly believe in training and will require her adopters take our partner training classes just so they can learn more about dogs and learn about everything Buttercup has learned while she has been here. Buttercup is a wonderful pup. She has an amazing zest for life and is just always so happy and social. She gets along great with all other dogs and people. She has a good amount of energy just like most Border Collies but she also loves affection and loves to snuggle. She is everybody's favorite who meets her. She would be a perfect dog for daily runs/hikes, a doggy playmate, an someone who wants a dog to love and snuggle! Chalupa is a young adult teeny teeny tiny Chihuahua weighing about 5lbs. We are guessing he is about 1.5-3 year old. Here is what Chalupa's foster has to say about him: "Chalupa id literally the sweetest dog in the world. He is recently arrived on a transport from Texas - the woman that was fostering him before his arrival in Colorado was so touched by this dogs amazing personality that she hand wrote us a letter all about him. He was found as a stray in Texas getting chased by several large dogs, His former foster was ablw to scoop him up as he came right to her for help. Chalupa is a lover through and through, and is much more interested in snuggling up than playing. He does well on leash and has been making amazing strides on house training. He gets along with other dogs, and while he was a little spooked by the cat at first now they are playing nice! He loves burrowing under blanketsand wants to be by his humans at all times. He sleeps in his crate through the night but we know he would love to snuggle in bed under the covers at night. He is truly a perfect match for someone who is looking for a pocket sized best friend. He is perfect" If you are interested in adopting Chalupa, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com show less

Chulo is a young adult adorably hunky bully breed dog. We are guessing he is about 2-3 years old and weighs about 60lbs. Chulo was dumped at an overcrowded shelter in Kansas. There were so many bully-breed dogs in the shelter they were euthanizing a dozen a week. The shelter reached out to us in hopes we could save Chulo and Mambo (another dog in the shelter) literally two hours before their euthanasia. We didn't have committed fosters to save them but we did have a donor who was willing to sponsor us to save them. We decided we could save them both if they came straight to CO to our board and train program since they had room AND because they are bully-breed dogs, so we wanted to make sure we set them up for a lifetime of success upon entering our program; since the majority of dogs who are euthanized in shelters are Bullybreed dogs, especially if they do just one tiny thing wrong. Our trainer works really hard to set our board and train dogs up for a lifetime of success. She trains them to be confident, happy, social dogs. Since she works so hard with each dog, we require that their forever homes are willing to put in the work with them as well. We require that each of our board and train dogs (even the ones without behavioral issues) go through the eight week training class with their humans, so the humans can learn what the dogs have learned in board and train. This is 100% free to the adopters which is an amazing deal, especially if you are someone who loves to learn and spend time training their dog. Chulo is an absolutely wonderful dog. He is very smart and learns quickly. He is a very rowdy player with other dogs, so another dog who also enjoys playing rough would be so fun for him. He would also do okay as an only dog as he loves people and to enjoy snuggle time. He is just such a hunk of love and happiness all the time. He will need a home with a yard since he love to romp and fly around the yard during the day. Dusty is a 4-5 year old 15lb Chihuahua/Poodle mix. Dusty came to us from a hoarding case in Denver in the beginning of March where there were over 60 dogs living outside. Dusty was one of the most nervous dogs in the shelter, that is why we took him into our rescue. Dusty has come a long way in the last 3 months but he still has a lot of hurdles to conquor. Dusty was 100% shut down when he came into our foster program. He is now starting to trust humans and other animals. He gets along great with everybody but still likes to watch more from a distance. You can tell that from watching his foster humans and other dogs interact he is learning a lot and gaining trust through watching it all. He is a wonderful little dog and life has been incredibly cruel to him. Dusty will need a home with a super patient human who can give him the time he needs and knows that trust and love with be built over time and that bond will be stronger because of it. We will require Dusty goes to a home with another dog since he seems to learn confidence through them. Enzo is a 2(ish) year old goofball weighing about 45-50lbs. Enzo was adopted from a rescue when he was just eight weeks old. His family decided they did not have time to train him or work with him, and since he is a dog with such a big personality, it was not a good match. The rescue he was adopted from was unable to take him back, so we took him into our program. We knew that if he was adopted out again without training he would continue to be returned time after time, since thats one of the main reason for returns. Enzo had already been shuffled around and we were not going to let that happen again. Enzo joined out board and train program where he learned to channel his goofiness and big personality in just the right way. Eveybody at the board and train facility is obsessed with him. He is a favorite for sure. Enzo gets along well with other dogs and has a ton of energy. He would be perfect for an active family who is looking for someone to take on tons of adventures with. It's important that Enzo goes to a family who is dedicated to his training so he continues to be successful in his forever family. Since his trainer has spent so much time and dedication to him, we are requring that Enzo's forever family that our trainers eight week training course, free of charge. This is so Enzo's forever family can learn everything that Enzo has learned, and help set him up for a lifetime of happiness and success. He is such a good boy and so deserves a family that is as dedicated to him as we are, and who will love him as much as we all do! Fuzzy is a 1(ish) year old adorable Spaniel mix weighing about 10lbs. Fuzzy was found dumped in an oil field in New Mexico - just like so many in that area. He was absolutely terrified and completely shut down when he came to us about 4 weeks ago. While he is still a little nervous at first, and will need a very patient home, he is really starting to come out of his shell. We will require that Fuzzy goes to a home with another dog because he loves to play and is learning how to "dog" from other dogs. He is looking to his foster Momma for more comfort and and love as the days go on. We know he will continue to grow and trust as long as his family gives him that time and patience. Fuzzy is the most gentle, sweet little soul. You can tell he loves to learn and is a smart little boy. He is just starting to learn how to walk on a leash and is doing surprisingly well for a beginner! He is truly such a special boy and deserves a patient, loving human who has so much love to give right back. Gertie is a 2.5MO, 4lb Chihuahua mix. Gerty came to us with her Momma from New Mexico right after she was bron. We wanted to get Gertie and her Momma out of the shelter as quickly as possible before they got sick or too stressed. Gertie and her Momma have now been in a foster home for a little over 2 months and Gertie is ready to find her forever family! Gertie is a sweet little girl. Her Momma is only 6lbs and we have no idea what her dad was. We are guessing she will be around 10lbs when full grown. Gertie gets along great with other dogs and all people. Her foster has kids and she does well with the kids and the other big and small dogs in the home. She would do great in another home with a dog to play with, but thats not a must as long as she has humans who love her unconditionally and have the time and energy to raise a puppy. While Gertie is small, she will still need daily exercise and and mental stimulation just like any dog, hopefully followed by lots of snuggles and chill time. If you are intersted in adopting Gettie, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com show less

King and his 7 siblings were born in Texas. Momma Rylee got pregnant becuase her humans didn't enough about her to get her fixed. Once she was pregnant they didn't even want her anymore because they didn't want the responsibility of her puppies. Right now in Texas the shelters are so over crowded that most are not even intaking animals so there was nowhere for Momma and her babies to go other than the streets, and we weren't gonna let that happen! Momma Rylee made her way to CO with her sweet little babies a couple weeks ago. They are almost ready to find their forever families! Momma Rylee is about 11lbs and we are guessing her pups will be around the same size when full grown. Your breed guess is as good as ours, but we are so excited to find out! We are guessing maybe Dachshund/Terrier with the stunning coloring, small size, and short legs...not to mention the big ears. Some of the pups have floofy fur and some have shortner fur. They are all so unique and beautiful, it is by far the coolest litter we have ever brought into Brighter Days. Their foster said they are the easiest, sweetest pups she has fostered to date. They are easy going and love to romp around with each other in their play pen. Her kiddo's love to hold them and love on them so they have been well socialized pups at such a young age. They have also been around kittens and other dogs and do great. These pups would do great in a home with another dog but would also be okay as an only dog as long as their socialization continues. They are just such love bugs and so snuggly and sweet, they would be happy with any human who will love them unconditionally and dedicate the appropriate time and energy it takes to raise a little pup. Koda is a 3MO floofy Shepherd Mix weighing about 15lbs. We are guessing he will be about 35-45lbs when full grown. Koda is a reservation pup. He was found as a stray at just a few weeks old. He was all alone and seemed to be the only surviving pup from his litter. Someone took him in and took care of him until we could get him to CO. He has now been in CO for a few weeks, has been totally vetted an is ready to find his forever family. Koda is what his foster describes as a "fearless puppy". She said he loves to say hi to anybody and everybody and is the biggest love bug. He is great with other dogs and all people. He is a playful puppy and loves to play, but is also totally okay chilling. He is a pretty mellow pup as far as three month old pups go. He is pretty easy and just such a great pup. His personality is pretty hard to beat, he is amazing and perfect. If you are interested in adopting Koda, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com show less

Laverne is the cutest itty bitty Chiweenie weighing about 5lbs. We are guessing she is about 1.5-2 years old. Laverne was dropped off at an overcrowded shelter in New Mexico with her little baby who is about 6MO. The shelter had no room so reached out to us to help them. Laverne is the sweetest little girl. She gets along great with other dogs and humans. She is a little nervous at first and takes a little to warm up to strangers, just sniffing and slowly crawling up for love. Once you give her a little to warm up she will be your best friend wanting all the snuggles in the world. It's hard to grasp how short and long she is through the pictures but she totally has a little weenie body and it's absolutely adorable. Laverne also has the weenie personality of completely snuggly, loving, and always burrowing under the covers. She will absolutely need a family who wants a snuggle bug and best friend. While she gets along great with other dogs, her main priority is her humans. She would love to hang out during the day with her human and go on adventures/daily outings, then snuggle up all night under the covers with her humans. She is truly the sweetest snuggle bug and has the best personality when given just a little patience. Maverick is a 2-3 year old Dachshund weighing about 20lbs. Maverick is from Texas, where he was used as a backyard breeder until his captor (some may say) let him loose on the streets with a couple other Dachshunds to fend for themselves. It took the rescuers int he area week to trap them all and get them to safety. Once they were in the care of our rescue partners they were able to get proper vetting and love for the first time ever. While they were skinny and had fleas/ticks they warmed up quicker than any of us were expecting and seemed to be in okayish health. Maverick has been here for a couple months now and is finally ready to find his forever family. He came to us with a tick-borne illness that had to be treated before going under anestesia. Luckily it was 100% treatable and after a month of antibiotics he was all cleared. He is now a happy, healthy and is ready to find a great forever family. Here is what his foster dad has to say about him: "Maverick is a 2 year old dachshund with lots of energy! Maverick loves playing with all of his foster siblings big and small! He loves to chase the squirrels in the back yard and will spend all day outside when the weather is nice if you let him! When he is not playing he loves to cuddle under the blankets (typical burrowing Dachshund) with his fosters! He would do perfect in a house with other dogs to play with and extra loving humans!" **We will require he goes to a home with another dog to play with (big or small) cuz he just loves to play If you are interested in adopting this handsome boy, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com show less

**Mollie is a board and train dog through Brighter Days. Please read all about this before applying to adopt** Mollie is a 2 year old Rottie mix Mollie was surrendered to Brighter Days Dog Resue because her previous owners had never taken the time to train her properly. Becuase of this she was surrendered to Brighter Days to find a family who actually has the time and dedication a 4-legged companion needs. When an adult dog comes to us lacking any sort of training we immediately get them into our board and train program. One of the main reasons dogs get euthanized in an overcrowded shelter is due to lack of training. When we started Brighter Days we made a commitment that we would make sure every single Brighter Days Dog would be set up for a life time of success, which includes training. Our trainer works so hard to get these dogs to be wonderful, stable, balanced, obedient, great dogs. To make sure their hard work is not lost over time due to owners who don't continue the training, we require each one of our adopters who is adopting a board and train dog to take our trainers classes in longmont. It is an eight week course that is usually $300, but for Brighter Days adopters it is free! Here is what our Trainer has to say about Mollie: Mollie is a high energy, hilarious, sweet and affectionate dog. Mollie will need daily exercise, so an active home is best for her, a home that enjoys walking, running, hiking, etc. Also she needs a house with a big yard and a fully enclosed with a 6 foot privacy fence. She is an awesome dog and will be perfect for the right, active family. We are going to require Molly goes to a home without other dogs, cats, and kids just to make sure she is set up for success. If you are inerested in adopting Mollie please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com show less

Rusty is a 9(ish) year old adorable little man weighing about 10lbs. Rusty is a spicy little boy and we could not be more obsessed with him. He was adopted from us a couple years back and he really ruled the roost in his home. The couple was older and they just wanted a dog to lay around with them all day and he was not that dog. He became sassy, and while the wife absolutely loved him, the husband said he had to go. Since Rusty had absolutely no training while he was with them we decided to board and train him to get his big personality under wraps and to get him the training and exercise he deserved. Since Rusty did our board and train program we are going to require he goes to a family who will take our training classes so they can learn everything that Rusty has learned. It is 100% free to the adopters which is an amazing deal, for people who want to learn more about dogs and how to help them succeed! Rusty is an awesome little guy. He loves to go for walks and he can be very talkative. He lots to trot around the yard with a big smile on his face. He is an adorable little oldman and will bring so much joy to his forever family! Rylee is a 2-3 year old, 11lb Dachshund (maybe?) mix. Rylee was surrendered to one of our rescue partners with her 8 babies in Texas. Rylee and her babies were transported here to CO a few weeks back and have been doing great! Rylee's babies are almost ready to find their forever families, which means Rylee is almost ready to find a forever family of her very own! Rylee is a wonderful little dog. Her foster Momma said she is easy and incredibly loving. She gets along great with other dogs but her main focus is humans. She love to snuggle and be around her humans whenever possible. She sleeps under the covers in bed with her foster Momma, so that will be a must for her forever family. It must be the dachshund in her. She is okay being left alone home as long as she has a blanky to snuggle up in. She is learning the doggy door and learning house training but will need a family who can have a little patience with her. She does great with the fosters kids and just loves to be loved on. She is a little nervous around new humans and will bark a little at first, but once they sit on the ground and show her they are safe she warms up super quick.
