About Esperanza - Foster Needed!

Wrinkles, spots, and jowls, oh my!

Hello, my name is Esperanza, Essy for short. I am approximately 3 years old and am a polka-dotted beauty queen looking for a forever home to call my own. I have a wrinkly face that shows exactly what I’m thinking and beautiful dark eyes that you could get lost in.

I’ve been told I’m a super smart girl. I know my obedience commands/cues (sit, shake) and lots of tricks. The volunteers say I’m a well-behaved dog, 95% of the time.  We all can’t be perfect. The other 5% of the time is due to that typical craziness of a boxer. The good news is that I’m treated motivated and love to please my people so I just need a family that will continue to challenge my mind.

I love to go for walks and walk well on a leash. I’d love to find a family that enjoys long walks, hikes, or maybe even runs! I also love to play, my favorite games are chase and tug-of-war but once playtime is over, I’m all about the cuddles.

I’m a social butterfly and love meeting new people but can be picky about my doggie friends probably because I’m a tad awkward with my interactions. because and soaking up all the attention. I would love to meet you and soak up all your attention.  If you just apply to meet me, I’m sure you will fall in love with me.

Lucy never starts a day without a smile   I am a 4-year-old gorgeous, boxer mix with a silky black (tuxedo) coat. I have a fun-loving and curious personality.  I’m wonderful with other dogs of every size and very accomodating of different play styles. I love spending time with my human friends too and am very well behaved in the home. I don't jump up on people, but will take every opportunity to nuzzle my head into your lap. I know my basic obedience cues, know where to go potty, and am not destructive. I can pull a little on leash when I get excited, but just say my name to get my attention and I'll be right by your side!  I've been told girls as good as me don't come along every day, so don't miss this opportunity! Apply to meet me and be my new best friend!  I’m excited about life and it shows but you will have to apply to find out for yourself. ********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN********** If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application. Ruff, ruff!  Ahem, I mean HELLO to you, potential adopter who may not speak “dog”.  No big deal if you don’t of course, all that really matters is you love dogs, which means ME! Some kind hikers found me wandering alone in the Rocky Mountains, and as you Colorado people know, it’s not a great idea to be alone in the mountains without even a water bottle! Though uncertain at the time, these people convinced me to follow them down the mountain and, long story short, took me to Ho-Bo Care.  Overall, I’m a really fun guy, but I have been known to get excited and jump up to say hello when I meet new people. Trust me, if you walked a mountain-mile in my paws, you’d be excited to meet others, too!Recently, I spent an afternoon with a pup specialist who wanted to learn all about me.  She observed me meeting strangers as well as unfamiliar dogs. I really love people, but other dogs can make me nervous.  Mind you, I’m not rude to these dogs, I’m just hoping to be the pride and joy of my human forever-family rather than make new furry friends.By the way, did you know it’s the start of football season?  Did you also know that I looooove football, especially the Broncos?  I’d love to hang out by your feet while the game is going, and would eagerly chase a ball any other time of day. Of course, it you want to go to a game one day, I’ll patiently wait for you until you gethome -- just leave the game on for me.  I’m crate trained, and quickly settle down for a nap so PLEASE GIVE ME A CHANCE.  I’m a great dog and would love being part of your family. ********PLEASE READ BELOW PRIOR TO EMAILING IN********** If you are interested in adopting this dog or any other from our rescue, please go to https://www.hobocare.org/adopt to review our home requirements and fill out an application.
