About Cher

Adoption Fee: $625.00

Cher has stolen the spotlight in her foster home in Massachusetts, and she's just waiting to be the star of your show! She is a super energetic 6-month-old, 20-25 pound cutie who is full of smiles and joy. She and Sonny were picked up at the shelter at the same time, and both have a zest for life that mirrored that of the classic pop duo, Sonny and Cher. Cher LOVES playing with other dogs; she's very friendly. She is currently thriving in her foster home in Massachusetts. Her foster says that she is a sweet, affectionate pup who loves to eat and jump around. She's quite energetic and curious. Cher loves to play chase with the ball. She is great with older kids and teens, but we haven’t had her around younger ones yet. This pup loves long walks and is very well-behaved, even when there are lots of distractions of people and dogs. She is working on basic training with her foster and is treat-motivated. We're hoping that the next, and hopefully final, stop on Cher's tour will be your home!

Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. We are entirely volunteer-run and foster-based, so we do not have a physical facility, and we cannot guarantee a dog is housebroken or cat/kid-tested. Pre-approved adopters can arrange a meet and greet for dogs over 6 months old who are already in New England, and the adopter is expected to travel to the dog's location. Applications must be submitted at HarveysHope.org for consideration. We estimate it will be 1-2 weeks before you hear from one of our volunteers, depending on volume at the time of submission. Thank you!

Meet our magical duo, Abra and Cadabra. They certainly have us under their spell! These sweet lab mix sisters were rescued from the shelter in South Carolina, covered in fleas. Our Southern partner made sure those buggers did a disappearing act so that they could prepare for their forever homes. They're about 7 months old now and are currently being fostered in Massachusetts. These pups came to us very scared, so in an abundance of caution, we think that they would do best in a home without small children. Abra, while still initially shy, certainly loves her French Bulldog foster siblings, who are about her height, and has opened up so much more around them. We don't want to jinx it, but we think they would make some families pretty happy, so get your applications in now to have a chance at bringing one of these magical pups home! Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. Be on your "A" Game! Meet our newest allstars: Addie, Amber, Aspen, Atari, Adelaide, Aisha, Aleah, Austin, and Addyson. These puppies were found alone in an abandoned house in Georgia. A friendly partner brought them to one of our partner vets, and we took them in. They have come with some hefty medical bills, so we're calling on our HHAR community to help us cover those costs and help us find furever homes for these fluffballs. We never got to meet their doggy parents, so we aren't quite sure what size or breed they are, as with the case with many rescues, but our vets think they're boxer mixes, and Aisha is growing quickly, at 16 lbs at 11 weeks. They should be coming up to the Northeast to be fostered or adopted in February or March, after they've received proper medical care, are spayed/neutered, and are up-to-date on vaccines. So, if you'd like to add one of these all-star doggies to your family, apply for pre-approval/adoption now! Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. Aurelia is a resilient lady who is ready to find her family! Her name means "the golden one" which is fitting because she has a heart of gold.  This 5-year-old pit mix is a funny girl who can be found shaking her toys around on the lawn. She loves, loves, loves food, and truly enjoys keeping humans company. Aurelia was abandoned in the woods with her baby, Plum, who was adopted. When we found her, Aurelia was completely emaciated and heartworm positive with serious gastric issues that have taken months of special food to try to fix due to the damage it did to her body. While she is still on special food, she's been recovering really well and is finally heartworm negative! She will need a patient adopter with a quiet home to make them her one and only, with a fenced yard. Add this golden mama to your home! Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. These pups are pretty in pink! One of our southern partners saw these puppies on Facebook Marketplace and asked us if we wanted to take them in; we grabbed them sight unseen, and boy, were we lucky! Another rescue took in their mama and are spaying her in January, but since they couldn't take the pups, we've made them part of our family. Aren't they the cutest?! We've named this litter after some of our favorite shades of pink- Baby Pink, Blush, Ballet Pink, and Bubblegum Pink. These pups will be about 3 months old when they arrive in the northeast at the beginning of February. Get your applications in now if you'd like one of these lab mixes to be your Valentine! Bambi is approximately 7 years old and is looking for her forever home. Just like her namesake, Bambi hasn't always had it easy, but she's really shown improvement in the time she's spent at a board & train program.  Her dream forever home would be with adults or older children (over 12) who will be gentle, loving, and patient with her, either with a submissive, smaller dog or only dog getting all of the loving (but no cats, please). She will need to work with a behaviorist in her new home, as she's incredibly submissive and clearly has been abused in the past, but she's a sweet girl who would make up for her shortcomings with lots of love! Her puppy, Flower, has already found her family in New England. A fenced in yard is a must for her. Can you help this mama and apply to foster or adopt her? Cole feels a bit like most of us last year- introverted and unsure he's ready to be social. At just three years old, Cole (fka Pepperoni) is a shy boy who is looking for an experienced adopter to take it slow. He may take some time to realize he can trust you, but once he comes around, he'll let you pet him, and he'll lick you if you stop so he can get more pets. Cole is just sweeter than sugar. He is friendly with other dogs and while he loves a good bone, he isn't always treat-motivated. Cole came from the big Harris County pull we did in Texas during the winter storm. Our Southern partner said "Cole came to me when he would not walk on a leash, was scared of touch, and just shook the whole time. He was slated for euthanasia in TX. After months of working with him, he now walks on a leash, doesn’t shake, and will let me love on him." While he's slow to trust others, he will follow the lead of another furry friend best. Cole's home must have a fully fenced yard. He's currently scared of men and probably wouldn't be best with little kids, so we're hoping a single lady is going to love him! If you feel this sweet pup could thrive in your home, please apply to meet or adopt him today! Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. Emma has officially joined us in a new foster home in Massachusetts! She loves being up North and is hoping to find her #fureverhome soon. The key to her heart is a snuggle and a hotdog. Can you count all the ways that she smiles? This 3-year-old sweetheart is from Harris County, TX. Weighing in at about 50 pounds, she's been determined to be a Staffy/Basset mix. You may not be able to tell from her pictures, but she's a low-riding girl. Her foster says that Emma is really good with other dogs and people. She's more like a dominant player when playing with other dogs and loves being the alpha. While her foster hasn't been able to test her with kids yet, she thinks Emma would be great with them. Overall, she's a love bug who loves spending all her time with her people. This pup has received her vaccines and been spayed, so now she is just waiting for someone to take her home forever! Our boarding partner in SC said that Emma is absolutely the sweetest girl, all around! They love her! They said "Emma is going to be someone's best friend! She really just wants to hang out with you, no matter what you're doing." She has learned to sit and is really close to mastering "down," and isn't a fan of being in her crate; she's a little social butterfly and loves to be around people. The shelter told us that Emma was cat-friendly, but she wasn't a big fan of the cat she met with us, so we're going to suggest she isn't in a home with cats. Her home will need a fenced yard.  If you'd like to meet this low-riding lady, get an application in!   Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption. We have an update on Howie from this trainer! She says "I really enjoy him. He’s truly a fun dog to have. Never a dull moment. Always has you laughing and on your toes. But his family needs to be experienced in training or at minimum be a physically active person who’s willing to learn how to stimulate him mentally.  He’s AMAZING with obedience and learns VERY quickly, often on the first try. He aims to please and loves to work. Howie responds very quickly to commands and would do amazing at competition obedience for someone that wants to compete or do it for fun. He’s SUPER food motivated and very easy to train, as he thrives for it. He would be most successful in a home with someone who enjoys training and can give him a job with LOTS of exercise- not just physically but also mentally stimulating him, such as someone who’s a hiker or outdoorsmen that would want a companion to go with them. He could run 5 miles a day and go another 20. He’s loyal to his people but loves everyone." Howie is an incredibly smart dog who thrives when he is given a job. He needs an experienced and active owner that can continue to challenge him mentally and physically. Howie has lots of energy that he can use to focus on learning some new skills, but he also needs a lot of physical activity. He does amazing with obedience and loves to learn. It takes him no time at all to learn something new, and we can imagine that he would excel in obstacle courses or something similar. Howie also likes to have a good time and can be extremely silly, goofy, and has an awesome personality once he starts to trust. This 2-and-a-half-year-old Pitt/Hound mix is very food-driven and loves toys and playing fetch. While his trainer doesn't feel he's best suited for children or small pets, she does think he would do best with a submissive yet confident female dog or as the only dog in the household. Howie has been exposed to horses and donkeys and has been completely fine with them. He loves hanging out with his people and does fine indoors. He will alert you to let you know if someone is in the yard, but once he’s told it's okay, he loves to get attention from them. While he loves to be outdoors, like all dogs, he should not be left unattended outside. If 5 ft fence was separating him from you or something he wants, he'd jump over it to get to you... he doesn’t want to go anywhere; he just wants to be with his people and occasionally explore. Because he craves this closeness, he needs a solid crate, as he will break out of the typical metal crate and airline crate in seconds if he wanted to. He also needs a fenced in yard that is a minimum of 6ft and PVC/vinyl (he can climb).Howie needs to have an owner that will set boundaries for him and make sure they stick to them. He’s very easy to correct and loves any type of positive praise. Think we could be a dynamic duo? Apply today!   Please note: Our dogs are rescued from high-kill situations in the South and brought up to New England for foster and/or adoption.
