Aurelia is a resilient lady who is ready to find her family! Her name means "the golden one" which is fitting because she has a heart of gold.  This 5-year-old pit mix is a funny girl who can be found shaking her toys around on the lawn. She loves, loves, loves food, and truly enjoys keeping humans company. Aurelia was abandoned in the woods with her baby, Plum, who was adopted. When we found her, Aurelia was completely emaciated and heartworm positive with serious gastric issues that have taken months of special food to try to fix due to the damage it did to her body. While she is still on special food, she's been recovering really well and is finally heartworm negative! She will need a patient adopter with a quiet home to make them her one and only, with a fenced yard. Add this golden mama to your home! Bambi is approximately 7 years old and is looking for her forever home. Just like her namesake, Bambi hasn't always had it easy, but she's really shown improvement in the time she's spent at a board & train program.  Her dream forever home would be with adults or older children (over 12) who will be gentle, loving, and patient with her, either with a submissive, smaller dog or only dog getting all of the loving (but no cats, please). She will need to work with a behaviorist in her new home, as she's incredibly submissive and clearly has been abused in the past, but she's a sweet girl who would make up for her shortcomings with lots of love! Cadabra is a sweet, but shy little girl. She and her sister, Abra, were rescued in South Carolina and made their way to New England. Abra has been adopted but Cadabra is still looking for hers! Cadabra is a lab mix and is about 9 months old. She still has fun puppy time left! She is making great strides in her foster home and loves her dog sibling. She is slowly coming out of her shell, and playtime with other pups helps a bunch. She’ll need a very patient and loving forever family that’s willing to take their time showing her that she’s safe and loved. Cadabra will do best with another confident dog in the home to help her remember that she’s safe, and with children over 8 so she doesn’t get nervous while settling in. She is great with her crate and doing well with house training.  We don't want to jinx it, but we think she would make a family pretty happy, so get your applications in now to have a chance at bringing this magical pup home! Howie is an incredibly smart, high-energy dog who thrives when he is given a job. He has completed over a year of training and knows advanced obedience. He needs an experienced and active owner that can continue to challenge him mentally and physically. Howie has lots of energy that he can use to focus on learning some new skills, but he also needs a lot of physical activity. He does amazing with obedience and loves to learn. It takes him no time at all to learn something new, and we can imagine that he would excel in agility or obstacle courses. Howie also likes to have a good time and can be extremely silly, goofy, and has an awesome personality once he starts to trust. This 3 year-old Pitt/Hound mix is very food-driven and loves toys and playing fetch. While his trainer doesn't feel he's best suited for small children or small pets, she does think he would do best with older children/teens and a submissive yet confident female dog or as the only dog in the household. Howie has been exposed to horses and donkeys and has been completely fine with them. He loves hanging out with his people and does fine indoors. He will alert you to let you know if someone is in the yard, but once he’s told it's okay, he loves to get attention from them. While he loves to be outdoors, like all dogs, he should not be left unattended outside. If 5 ft fence was separating him from you or something he wants, he'd jump over it to get to you... he doesn’t want to go anywhere; he just wants to be with his people and occasionally explore. Because he craves this closeness, he needs a solid crate, as he will break out of the typical metal crate and airline crate in seconds if he wanted to. He also needs a fenced-in yard that is a minimum of 6ft and PVC/vinyl (he can climb). Howie needs to have an owner that will set boundaries for him and make sure they stick to them. Kiwi is a sweet, cuddly 60 lbs, young pittie mix. She came to Harvey’s Hope in 2019, starved, at about 30 lbs. She has done so much healing since then to get her skin back to normal, her GI tract on track, and for her to trust in humans again. Kiwi is one of our founder's favorite dogs and has spent time in her home. She is smart and loyal, loves playing in the water, and cuddling with her human(s). Kiwi has been around older children but will consider a cat a snack. She has been tested with dogs as small as 11lb and as large as 90lb and did great, but no food or toys can be within reach.  Because Kiwi was nearly starved to death, food is a trigger for her, and she has struggled with resource guarding behavior. She was adopted and then returned because of her food/toy aggression. Kiwi has undergone a board-and-train program and is now clicker-trained for taking toys and food. She has been doing phenomenal! Her next adopter would need to closely abide by the written instructions from the trainer and find a local trainer that can continue working with her. This three-year-old pup has lots of energy and needs a fenced-in yard. She is truly an amazing dog and would make someone so happy if they just give her a chance. Lululemon is a beautiful, sweet girl who was the mommy to the designer puppies. She is approximately 3-5 years old and a hound mix. Lulu was clearly a feral dog before coming to HHAR and has been in a board and train program to help her trust humans again. Initially, she was terrified of human touch; she would hide and defecate, and she was not afraid to dig out of a yard to leave for greener pastures that did not include humans. With being on the run for probably her entire life, she was unfortunately positive for heartworm disease and ehrlichia, both of which she has been treated for. She has made great strides in her board and train program and now is adjusting to live in her foster home! She loves to play bow, wag her tail, and stick her snout in the air to give sweet little "air kisses" when you call her beautiful. She is working on crate training, and loves the other dogs. Lulu follows them around and is more confident when she sees them interacting with people. Lululemon would love a nice, quiet home where she can be a couch potato. Loud noises aren't her favorite, and she prefers older children. She will require a fully fenced in yard, at a minimum of 6ft PVC/vinyl (non scalable), as she will still try to escape if she is spooked enough.
