Anna is a wonderful dog for the right owner. She is a loyal 4 year old American Bulldog Mix who loves attention. She is affectionate, very social with humans and has done well with her foster parents'  4 year old nephew. Belle Star, a 1 year old, 40 lb., hound mix dog, is as beautiful as her name. PAW volunteers and kennel staff say the following: She is very sweet but very timid. Definitely needs patience and encouragement to build up confidence. Does pretty well on the leash, hates loud noises, hates motorcycles and barking dogs. She seems fine with kids, same level of timid with everyone. She likes to be pet. Mostly took treats on her walk, sometimes didn't take it.  She thrives in her own space and can be destructive if left alone, at least at first. She needs a family that will be patient with her and help her feel comfortable in her new home and establish a space for her to feel safe. Belle Star would do best in a rural or quiet suburban environment in a townhouse or single family home. City life in an apartment is not for her. Benson is a 5 year, 10 lb Yorkshire mix. Benson is a sweet little guy, he is good with other dogs, however we have learned that he gets anxious around a lot of commotion/noise (even from outside), so he would do best in a home without children and not in an appartment.   We also suspect that Benson was the victom of abuse, so he will need an experience dog owner to help him navigate the beauty and wonders of the life a dog should have.  . My mommy had me with her for over three years, and then one day she handed my leash to a nice lady, and she disappeared. I cried, I waited, I looked around every day, but she was gone. I am so sad that I still cry out loud for her. People always come running and try to make me happy, but they don’t know what could help. Can I tell you? I want someone who treats me just like she did. You know, like a puppy. I want love and cuddles and fun and stuff to do. In the meantime, I get so attached to anyone in my life that I sob if they aren’t around. I’m a mess. If you think you could make me the star of your life, I promise I will be a good boy. Ok, well, I might growl at a dog or two at times (they ALWAYS start it), and sometimes I pretend that I can’t hear you. I would really like a fenced yard if you live in a house. I am ok without a crate now that I’m a big boy (except I’m told I’m a little guy and a “runt” — very confusing!). I don’t care about other dogs and don’t like to share! I just want YOU. Cash is a 1 year old Chocolate Lab mix, who weighs about 55 lbs. He is such a sweet dog that loves to give hugs and kisses. He is good with kids, Cash's human foster brother is 7 and they are best pals. His favorite thing to do is cuddle and play fetch, once you start you can’t stop. Denver is a 5 year old, 75lb Coonhound mix. He is a very handsome boy and gets lots of compliments when on walks about his look and his behavior on a leash.  He loves walks, hikes and even trail rides on bike with his person (using the gentle leader leash). He loves the sun and would do nothing all day if the sun didn’t move around. He is crate trained and will “go to his room” easily. He is potty trained and will stay in his crate from bedtime until morning!   On walks he will stop to say hi, but would rather keep walking and sniffing. He does fine in a dog park, but mostly stiffs the whole place instead of playing. He is good with older kids, not good with cats and not sure about other animals including a live-in dog. Visiting dogs are fine. Denver knows sit, stay, come, place, bang, roll over, off, walk, car ride, room, leave it is not perfect (but the picture with a poop toy on his head is a good example of him leaving it). It's fun to teach him new tricks and he really enjoys learning. He is not allowed on furniture because he gets very protective of spaces. He is food motivated which helps with training. Denver would love to exerience the best match possible, most likely a home with adults only that are willing to maintain clear boundaries. show less

‘DOT’ is a precious, black and white or “Tuxedo”, male kitten born on 3/18/2022 along with his 5 adorable siblings. Dot will soon be ready for placement into a loving, forever home. Dot and his siblings are all healthy, active, affectionate and playful kittens! Dot and his littermates have tested negative for both FIV and FELV. These kittens are spayed or neutered, and up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations and treatments.  If you are interested in pursuing the adoption of Dot as a single kitten or along with one of his littermates, please carefully read the information below before completing PAW’s Cat Adoption Application. PAW’s Cat Adoption Application can be reached by following this link: http://www.paw-rescue.org/adopt or by using the “Adopt” button on this kitten’s profile page. Once Dot has reached the acceptable weight and age, adopters will be responsible for scheduling a follow up veterinarian appointment for their kitten/s to receive their required Rabies Vaccination. Additional information will be provided once an application to adopt has been approved.  PAW’s ‘Cat Adoption Team’ typically prioritizes applicants interested in adopting young kittens as a pair and adopters with a resident cat at home already; however all applications will be thoughtfully considered and these kittens can be adopted as a single addition to your home and family.  Due to their small, fragile size and nature at this young age, PAW’s ‘Cat Adoption Team’ generally discourages the adoption of very young kittens to homes with children under 8 years old.  The Kitten Adoption Donation Fee is $175.00 for each kitten adopted. Due to the COVID pandemic, once an adoption application has been approved and selected, we will conduct a virtual ‘Meet and Greet’ via Zoom, Facetime, or another video conferencing platform. Since adopters are unable to meet our rescue cats in person, PAW is honoring a 2-week trial adoption period to ensure the match you’ve made is perfect! Eli is a 44 lb, 1 year old handsome lab mix. Eli is in a foster home and his foster mom raves about him. Here is what she has to say : Eli is simply an amazingly wonderful dog. We’ve been fostering him for nearly a week and he is already completely integrated into our home with 4 humans, two dogs and 4 cats. He gets along well with everyone - plays and plays with the dogs, is calm and respectful with the cats, loves to ‘swim’ in our little fish pond, and especially to snuggle up with me. He is a calm presence by my side in the house and in the yard - unless he’s playing with our dogs. He sleeps on the rug or dog bed next to our bed. We no longer need to crate him when we leave the house, which is a record over 30+ years of fostering! He doesn’t show a shred of resource guarding; you can take his food and toys away without any reaction, other than maybe a puzzled look. Hi, I'm Fritz! I am a 1 year old Pitbull mix. I am a simple guy. All I want is a nice comfy bed, lots of stuffies to play with (and maybe rip up), someone to snuggle with and give kisses to, and food. I love, LOVE food!! I badly want to play, but I'm a big puppy and don't realize how big and strong I am. I would probably do better as an only dog and in a home that doesn't have young kids. I'm not a big fan of city living, so somewhere quieter would be better for me. I've been told that I'm a huge snuggle bug & give the best doggy kisses. Geneva is a 5 year old, 65lb treeing walker coonhound.  She has overcome much to get where she is and is ready for a forever home!  She's a cuddle bug who loves to crawl into bed with you and play around with other dogs like she's a puppy.  She does get the zoomies at home but some ball throws or a Himalayan cheese stick and she starts to settle down.  She is good with kids but not with cats as all she wants to do is chase them and play which can be a difficult situation for them.  She does need some work on command training but she is a quick learner!   PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. show less

Jerry is a 1 year, 70 lb Siberian Husky mix.  He is a happy excitable puppy, who loves to give hugs and kisses and play with his toys and his people.  He is food motivated and knows basic commands like sit and stay.   However, he could use some training to help with his leash manners.  Jerry does well on car rides and he enjoys meeting and playing with other dogs.   PAW places animals in the Washington DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. show less
