About Sunshine

Adoption Fee: $125.00

Sunshine is a 2 year old male buff tabby. Sunshine has been affectionately nicknamed Sunny, and he does have a warm sunny personality.  His foster family will often refer to him as FOMO because this kitty doesn’t want to be left out!  Sunny is a born follower and trails his foster families’ 4-year-old cat around the house to make sure he doesn’t miss out on anything.  Sunny does require the company of other cats and will need to go to a home where he will have at least one kitty companion who will accept his don’t leave me behind attitude.

Sunshine’s warm and loving disposition is remarkable.  He was rescued from a hoarding situation in the spring of 2021 where he was one of two hundred plus cats.  When PAW took over his care, he had multiple infections.  He is now infection free and healthy! However, Sunny has been diagnosed with chronic idiopathic rhinitis. This means he will always have a bit of a stuffy nose.  Don't let that stop you from adopting this loving and gentle survivor kitty!  He takes two low-cost medications daily plus two over the counter supplement to keep his sinus inflammation and snuffles under control.  This guy is a champ at taking those pills! Sunny is on a diet that consists largely of wet food since it also plays a part in keeping him free from developing sinus infections.

Soon after being rescued by PAW Sunny required surgery to free his left third eyelid.  The surgery was successful, but his left eye is somewhat scarred.  His vision is not at 100%, but he sees very well.  He can track fast moving toys and follows everyone’s movement in the house.  He is the rare cat who doesn’t find gazing out the window essential… unless that is what his foster brother is doing.

Sunny has a calm energy and is best described as a gentle and sensitive soul. He loves a good wrestle with his foster brother but will also play independently.  Sunny has developed an attachment to one of his toys, a little squirrel.  He will sing a tender song of love about his little squirrel as he carries him around the house.  He is a true lap cat and is happiest when there is a lap to snuggle into.  After people earn his trust Sunny will allow himself to be picked up for brief periods as long as his ears are being rubbed.  Sunny is confident when new people come into his foster home and will be right there with his foster family greeting guests.  Given a little time he warms up to the new people and enjoys letting them pet him.  Sunshine is without a doubt a house cat.  Anything beyond the front or back door is too much and he will back away from the vast world beyond the home.  Like many cats he does not like sudden noises or fast movement and would do best in a home that is more tranquil than chaotic.

Sunshine is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV/FELV.

If you would like to meet Sunshine via a Facetime or Zoom video call, as well as ask questions about him, please complete the application here: www.paw-rescue.org/adopt and we will be in touch.

Due to the COVID pandemic, we are doing meet and greets with our foster cats via Zoom, Facetime or other video conferencing platforms. Since the adopter won't be able to meet them in person, PAW is honoring a 2 week trial adoption to ensure it's a good fit.

****COURTESY POST*******Please Note: Brinx can be adopted through Best DAWG Rescue. I want love…NOW (please)! Hey, everybody. I have been called a teddy bear, a love bug, a piglet…and more! My mommy had me with her for over three years, and then one day she handed my leash to a nice lady, and she disappeared. I cried, I waited, I looked around every day, but she was gone. I am so sad that I still cry out loud for her. People always come running and try to make me happy, but they don’t know what could help. Can I tell you? I want someone who treats me just like she did. You know, like a puppy. I want love and cuddles and fun and stuff to do. In the meantime, I get so attached to anyone in my life that I sob if they aren’t around. I’m a mess. If you think you could make me the star of your life, I promise I will be a good boy. Ok, well, I might growl at a dog or two at times (they ALWAYS start it), and sometimes I pretend that I can’t hear you. I would really like a fenced yard if you live in a house. I am ok without a crate now that I’m a big boy (except I’m told I’m a little guy and a “runt” — very confusing!). I don’t care about other dogs and don’t like to share! I just want YOU. Do you think you could want ME? If you have the time to give to Brinx, please send us an email via dawg@dawg-rescue.org! Better, please apply online through our website, www.dawg-rescue.org. Note that we do not accept electric fences and place dogs only in the DC metro area. If you wish to meet Brinx, we will require an application. Meetings occur from time to time, outside, at a generally convenient location. They are not arranged every week, but we try to accommodate as quickly as possible. show less

Carlos is small, all grey male who was rescued from an outdoor colony nearly a year ago. After being in the shelter for more than 6 months, PAW pulled him and brought him to a foster home where he could decompress and mellow into his true self. We know that Carlos wants attention - when he was in the shelter, he'd meow for someone to come over, but then when they did, he was anxious. He was so anxious that he would scratch himself on his face which left a scar that doesn't seem to want to grow hair back. We know it's from the scratching because he's been thoroughly tested negative for ringworm or other skin aliments and isn't itching anywhere else. He's come out of his shell a bit in the last 6 weeks that he's been in his foster home. He is very food motivated and his foster mom has been using treats to gain his trust. It's important to Carlos' long term happiness that he have a kitty companion or two - he really loves the other animals in the home and their companionship. Carlos uses scratching posts and has had no litterbox issues. He is up to date on his vaccinations, negative for FIV/Felv, and is neutered and microchipped. If you would like to meet Carlos via a Facetime or Zoom video call, as well as ask questions about him, please complete the application here: www.paw-rescue.org/adopt and we will be in touch.
