About CHEDDAR (So Korea) - adoption pending
Hey, hey, are you ready to bring home a dog who will be devoted to you? Because that's what you'll get if you pick me - adoration.
The name's Cheddar. I'm a 2 year old terrier mix, 18lb and 17 inches tall. I'm very relieved to tell you I was pulled from the euthanasia list at the city pound by the people from Welcome Dog Korea, who regularly come by to see who they can save.
I am a dog for whom people are the top priority in life. Once I have come to know someone I can't contain my delight in seeing them and will stand on my hind legs in an effort to hold onto them. The vet says that my habit of standing on my hind legs so much may have contributed to my early stage patella dislocation. He has recommended this habit be discouraged and provided some leg strengthening recommendations. Apparently I'm a skinny little chap who needs to build more muscle. Maybe you can help me with that?
When I meet strangers I am a little nervous at first and I tend to freeze. However, the minute a treat is produced my fear miraculously disappears and I become very enthusiastic and active again. You'd think my love of food would help me gain weight, but it doesn't seem to happen.

As far as other dogs, or even cats are concerned, I really don't have much interest. I find humans far more interesting and deserving of my attention.

Although my movements are quick, my overall energy level is average. I get excited at first when we go out on a walk, but I soon calm down and follow my handler's lead quite well. If you're planning to take me somewhere in the car, it would be wise to start me with an empty stomach as I tend to get car sick. Short trips to build my tolerance and familiarity with the car would be adviseable.
I can't wait to have a home with my very own person. Whoever that person is, they are going to get a bucket-load of love from me.
I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee of $750 + tax, includes my airfare to Canada.
Owing to the new hotel quarantine rules for international arrivals in Canada, it has become more difficult to find flight volunteers to bring dogs to Vancouver. It could take 2 to 3 months to bring your dog here.
If you would like to increase the chance of your dog coming sooner (on average within 4 - 5 weeks), then the rescuer may be able to find a flight volunteer to Seattle. However, this necessitates the use of a private customs brokerage company to bring the dog across the border and there is an additional fee associated with this:
PACIFIC CUSTOMS BROKERS charge a fee of between $190 to $270 per dog, depending on the number of dogs crossing at one time. This fee is separate to your adoption fee.
You will be asked if you are interested in using the Seattle option upon approval of your application.
