Do you want to live with a Cinnamon girl?  Now is your chance.  Meet Cinnamon, a 1-2 year old female brindle hound.  She looks like she has quite a bit of German shorthair pointer in her, only she is a little smaller, plus she has these beautiful brindle tiger strip colors. We don’t know much about her past. She was found abandon in western Kansas. Cinnamon is very smart and energetic.  She quickly learned to use a doggy door at her foster home.  She does well on a leash but will test your arm strength if a squirrel gets into view.  She is house trained.  She is very loving and loves attention.  Cinnamon will do very well with some additional training.   While we don’t know how Cinnamon is with young kids or cats, she is very good with other dogs after she gets to know them.  She will be defensive when she first meets other dogs and will bare her teeth.  We feel this is just a defense mechanism from her time on the street.  In a short time she became more comfortable with our pack at her foster home and started playing with them.  Cinnamon is working commands to sit, and not jump up on people.  She can be a chewer.  Her own chew bone or toy should help solve this.  She can’t have one at her foster home without other dogs taking it.   She does ok in a kennel over night but will let you know when it's time to come out.  She would love to find a forever home where she could sleep close to her human.  Cinnamon is a good snuggler on the couch.  Cinnamon is currently around 25lbs, current on vaccination’s, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.  She is fostered in Kansas City.  Her adoption fee is $350, applications can be filled out at bassetandbeagle.org show less

Hello everybody!  My name is Diego! I am your typical rambunctious puppy that just keeps on going and loves to play.  I really like people and love to get in lots of snuggles, kisses and playtime.  I love to play and wrestle with my siblings (there are 7 of us!).  I need someone to work with me on my basic commands and they will need patience as I get distracted pretty easily since I would rather be playing.  I mean who wouldn't? Since I am still a puppy I need to be potty trained so you need to teach me where to go and how to ask until I get the hang of it.  My foster home leaves me and my siblings in a small play area during the daytime where we can play and at night I snuggle up in the kennel with my siblings. Whaddya mean I’m not a beagle?  Hey, I’m Dillon and I, sigh, am a husky mix.  How did I end up in a beagle rescue?  Husky, shmusky I am a beagle in my heart.  Well, I was an add on with a beagle that was saved from a rural pound.  Then I got sick but I am feeling great now and ready for my forever home.  So, a little about me.  I am about 6-7 months old and 25 skinny lbs. Meet the Golden Girls, puppy style!  The puppies are lab mixed with potentially boxer.  Dorothy is currently 20lbs of Bossytude.  She is a typical oldest child puppy.  She likes to boss the other two pups around and she is a master of using her butt to move the other pups around. Dorothy wants to be petted first, picked up first, out first et cetera.   She is large and in charge but isn’t mean, just bossy. She is also the best and most affectionate cuddler and gives hugs and lots of kisses. Meet Duke!  Duke is a 70 pound, 4 year old boxer/hound mix. Duke is what we call a baseball dog. He is a great catcher and enjoys playing fetch. He lives for belly rubs and cuddling.  No one knows what happened in Duke’s past life, but he has some fears.  Outside noises like trucks, loud cars, et cetera scare him. Also, long items like walking sticks scare him. Unknown dogs are also a great fear and he will lash out. He gets defensive and protective while walking.   He needs someone who is willing to help him with socializing with other dogs while wearing a muzzle.  He needs someone to be patient with his anxiety.   A secure 6 foot tall fenced in yard is needed for Duke to be able to roam around in and sniff all the sniffs. Duke would be best suited for a human with no young children or other pets.  He is very loyal to his people but is very protective and is not fond of other dogs. He is leash trained and kennel trained and given full run of the house each day and does great.  He is fully potty trained. I’m Ellie Mae. I weigh 35 pounds now.   I am a long-legged hound with beagle blood and short ears, and pretty eyes.  Somebody docked my tail long ago.    I think I would really like some kids.  I might be a little bouncy for toddlers.  A toddler visits my house and I do OK with her but she is my only experience with tiny ones.  I’m quite gentle, though.  I do love to snuggle and cuddle as well as play.  I will sleep on the floor by the bed, but if somebody would let me sleep on the bed I would be much happier!  I am house trained and somewhat kennel trained.  I bark when first put in a kennel then settle down. I eat all my meals in the kennel because I am food aggressive with other dogs.  I now get put in the kennel before feeding time commences.   When treats are brought out, I am either given a treat in another room or given multiple treats so I always have one.  It is during the waiting that I get aggressive. I was emaciated when I was rescued, so it is not surprising that I’m very food oriented. I think I like toys, but another dog in the house thinks all toys belong to him and I don’t argue about it. But I am definitely interested in squeaky or furry toys. Other than when food is around, I get along great with other dogs. There are medium and small dogs in my foster home.  A little 7-pound poodle likes me a lot and we tussle and run around together.  I was a little rough with her at first when she joined the household a few months ago, but she cried and ran away.  She came back for more play though and I quickly learned how to be gentle with her.  Now we are backyard buddies. I walk OK on a leash and like to get out. I do OK going for drives, too.  I don’t know anything about cats.  I don’t bark at squirrels with some of the others, so I may be OK.  I just don’t know.  I hear they are kinda scary. When I was first rescued, I had heartworm disease and also Lyme disease.  I have been successfully treated and now am sleek and happy. I am spayed, chipped, and up to date with my shots. “A Classic Name for a Classic Dog" Fido is a 5 year old hound mix, an amalgam of breeds we like to call the “All American” or “Heinz 57" dog. He is 15 inches and 25 lbs so plenty of beagle in there. He is currently being fostered in Springfield, MO. He was rescued when his owner was incapacitated, and no longer able to take care of him. For the past couple of years Fido has essentially been homeless, wandering the countryside always in search of his next meal. Despite all that, he is a remarkably well-adjusted fellow. Fido is fully housebroken (which is somewhat amazing) and has learned to tolerate being crated during the day. He is crated because he is an escape artist and can jump a short fence. He would prefer a home with a tall fence. He is currently allowed outside while on a tether and tolerates this well. Though he has had a ruff run of luck, Fido has a very sweet disposition. He gets along great with his foster home's resident dogs, has shown no food aggression and resource guarding behavior. He has not been around children or cats in his foster home so his tolerance for them is currently unknown. He is learning to cuddle and accept affection after being somewhat stand-offish. Fido is up to date on all vaccinations but could still use some meat on his bones. Hello world! My name is Noodles, and I am a 37 lb, 1 year old male mix and can't wait to meet my new family. I am fully potty trained and like to sleep in my crate, although I will cuddle with you on the couch at ANY opportunity. I love going for walks and start to dance excitedly when the leash comes out. We are working on leash walking, as I do pull in an effort to go offroading.  And I go wild when I see another dog so I need guidance on that also.   Since I am still young, I really need a walk a day and some exercise in the yard to release some of my puppy/adolecent energy.  I'm learning to play fetch and love chasing my foster brother around.  We love to sit outside in the sun and survey the yard for birds, rogue leaves, and a particularly fat squirrel who tries to invade our turf. Not on my watch, porky! If I'm not outside, I'm usually sitting by the window snoozing or following my humans around the house helping with chores. I'm not sure how I'd do around cats since I don’t live with them, but get along great with my foster doggie brother. With that being said, I really need another doggie in the house to be able to live my best life and keep learning how to be a good boy.  I know 'sit' and love treats and peanut butter, so my foster family thinks I'd be easy to train for more commands. Hello, my name is Oliver. I am an 8 year old male beagle coming in at a respectable 38 pounds.  I'm with my foster mom because my previous owners were not capable of testing and/or treating me for possible Cushing's disease so the vet was nice enough to save me and contact my foster mom about a temporary home.  I've been tested for Cushing's and diabetes and both were negative so that's awesome. I do have elevated liver enzyme levels but I take a pill once a day to help with that.  I'm a super sweet dog who just loves to get tummy rubs and be close to you. Sometimes I think I'm a lap dog but will move pretty easily if you ask me to.  I LOVE car rides and walks although I do tend to pull a bit.  I just get soooo excited!  Not into toys too much even though there are a TON here available to play with.  I do like to go outside and check the perimeter now and then but when bedtime comes I just want to curl up in the bed with you.  I live with 2 resident beagles, 14 and 4, and get along just fine with both of them.  So far I haven't shown food aggression or any aggression towards either of them.  I do get REALLY excited for the liver cookies my foster mom makes.  OK, maybe sometimes too excited but they are soooo yummy!  We also have a lab, a chug, a pug, and a 1 year old beagle that visit on the regular and I do well with all of them.  I've been around cats and just tend to ignore them.  Also, I seem to be fine around kids.  I've been around kids as young as one.  Oliver’s Foster mom:  Oliver has not been kenneled at his current foster home so I'm not sure if he would take to a kennel or not.  I don't know if he was kenneled at his previous home.  He is basically house trained, but the first couple weeks with me he did have some "marking" accidents that went away after getting into the routine of the house and feeling comfortable.  He may have a little separation anxiety, but I would say it's probably quite mild.    Oliver does like to growl at you when he wants something or attention.  If you're not used to it, it might seem a little nerve racking but he "talks" similar to the way huskies do.  He will growl, bark, and dance to get attention.  He likes to be/go outside so a fenced yard would be ideal. Oliver does prefer to nap on the bed or couch so he would probably not do well in a house that does not allow dogs on the furniture.  He would likely sleep in a dog bed, or on the couch, just fine at night as that's where he slept for the first week with me until he realized the bed was OK.  Oliver is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and hw neg.  His adoption fee is $300, you can fill out an application for him at bassetandbeagle.org. show less

Hi, I am Pixel!  I am a Lab/Pointer Mix and I am around 5 months old and 30 lbs, I am not going to be tiny!  I am a very energetic puppy that loves to run and play. Having a fenced in yard would be best for me. I love toys and those crazy squeakers things inside them and kill them the first chance I get.  I know sit and I am working on other commands. I’m also a champ leash walker and love to go for walks and see all my neighborhood friends.  I’m your typical rambunctious pup that just keeps on going.  I really like people and love to get in lots of snuggles and kisses.  I enjoy playing and wrestling other doggies. Were you ever called "the wild child" but deep down you were only wild to get attention?  If you answered yes then we must be soul mates.  My name is Bree and although I'm only about 8 months old, I'm not really wild, I'm just a hot mess.  I want attention so badly that I'll yell and scream for it! I want to be either playing with my fur siblings or snuggled up with my foster parents.  If I'm not getting either one, I will let everyone know!  I am house broken but you better not put me in a kennel, how can I get attention in my kennel? A kennel means I'm alone and I don't like being alone.  That sounds bad, doesn't it?  I'm really not afraid of being alone so long as someone (person or dog) is with me.  I can be a little shy when meeting new people or dogs.  Well, not really shy but loud.  I want to get attention but I have to explain my demands first.  I am a little louder around men as I was abused by a man before I went into foster care.  Don't worry, all it takes is a couple of days for a man to toss me some chicken and show me some love and I warm right up!  A lot of active kids may be a little much for me especially at first.  When I went to the vet's office to get all of my vaccinations, spay and microchip, they called me a drama queen.  I kind of like being called Queen!  I'm not sure what it means exactly but being a queen has to be a good thing, right?  I know I'm only a small at 22 pounds, but I think I'd make a beautiful queen!  If you need a queen in your family, I need to meet you!  Bree is currently being fostered in the Kansas City area with an adoption fee of $350.  Contact www.bassetandbeagle.org and complete an adoption application to meet Bree.  show less

Hey there!  It's me, Ranger or Ranger Danger if you like. I'll tell you right now though, I'm not very dangerous.  In fact my foster mom's nickname for me is Mr. Chill.  I'm a perfect 5 year old beagle.  I like the other dogs in my foster home, although the puppy could drive anyone crazy. I completely ignore the cat.  In my previous life, I was allowed to roam free but ended up in foster care after my sister beagle got attacked by a coyote.  Since being in my foster home I've figured out that the free roaming thing isn't nearly as nice as a warm home with comfortable dog begs and couches to lay around on.  I don't try to escape the yard at all.  In fact, I'd prefer to just go out and do my business and come right back inside.  I have never worn a harness or gone on a walk with a leash before so that's really new to me.  I'm okay with putting a harness on now but I haven't quite figured out what I'm supposed to do after that.  My foster mom tries to get me to walk but I would rather just stand there!  At this point, I haven't figured out what walking on a leash is good for.  I'm not an anxious dog even though the car is a little scary and I don't have any separation anxiety.  I'm good in a kennel and even like to hang out there sometimes when that puppy gets too annoying but I'm good without one too.  I love people of all ages but I do need to have a quiet place to retreat to if things get too hectic.  Like my foster mom says, I'm really just a laid back guy.  I am a little chunky chonky or overweight as my vet likes to call it at 40 pounds.  My vet says if I just eat a normal amount of food and not get overfed I would be fine.  He told my foster mom not to give me too many snacks but the thing is I'm not that all into treats.  I prefer my food in a bowl and I like to have a bedtime Greenie.  My foster mom says I do have one fault.  For the first few days at her house, I wanted to mark on things.  She says this could have happened for several different reasons and she isn't sure if I'll do it at my forever home but it is a possibility.  With the exception of my one fault, I am perfect if you just want the companion of a laid back pup.  Unfortunately, if you're looking for a running mate or a playmate for your puppy, I'm probably not the perfect dog.
