Meet Hank!  He’s a happy 9 year old heeler. He is very overweight, but his bloodwork came back great. So he’s started a diet 😆 He was almost 40 pounds overweight so you can imagine how his joints feel. He is on medication for that and will need to continue on that.  He does chase the cat in his foster home, but is good with other dogs.  Hank has only lost about 15 pounds so far. A front leg has been hurting him due to arthritis, so he can't exercise very long. Every pound he loses will help that leg. His best bet for exercise is using an underwater treadmill at a rehabilitation facility.  Only apply for Hank if you want to help a senior dog live out his golden years the best he can.  Apply to adopt at mgarcolorado.org show less

Larry is a super sweet, exquisitely shy fella. He will be nervous and scared for sure when he moves to his new home. He is like my informer, a little lieutenant. He fetches me so he can show and tell me about all the goings on at fosterkittycity. He comes up to me or waits for me to go and see him whereever he needs to show me something, looks me in the eyes and then shows me what he wants. He notifys me about all the weaknesses in my outdoor cat fencing. He looks at me, makes sure I am watching, then jumps over the webbing. Then looks at me to say: "Better fix that foster mama!". Then he gets down so I dont have to worry about him. He lets me know when I am late to feed the big boys. He sauters into the kitchen, sits by his bowl and gives me the little look with his pink nose pointed towards my face for attention. And he gets the attention. Who could resist that little pink nose!!! He took 2-4 weeks to be fully comfortable to roam around my home. Each step he took towards trusting me and the safety of fosterkittycity was sweet to witness. Larry and I are looking for an adopter that will be happy to take it slow and be patient with him. Perhaps even an adopter that will enjoy Larry’s process towards trust and the ultimate reward: his beautiful love. This tuxedo boy is so handsome, sweet, nervous, and shy in a really adorable way. He is mostly looking to be some mature family's one and only guy. Larry does well with my extremely gentle big resident cat so it's possible he could be adopted into a home with one other pet given a particularly special and gentle situation. We can tell he wants to play and snuggle but is a bit nervous in a busy foster home.  He is on a raw rabbit diet and is happy and healthy and would very much like to continue that diet in his new home. Since transitions to new homes are scary and overwhelming, his new parents would hopefully be committed to honoring his current diet during his transition to his new home and perhaps open to committing to his diet long term as it seems to be working great for him! He has excellent litter box skills and is neutered. Roxy is a perfect dog for your colorado outdoorsy lifestyle.  She is as good in water for summer fun as she is on snow for winter season.  She is a total ball of lab playfulness. Out on hikes and snowshoeing adventures she'll keep you entertained by diving into piles of snow on the trail. When out on the lake and creeks she isn't adrian to jump into water. For all you kayakers and SUP people, back country hikers, skiers, and explorers, this girl really is the total package. When relaxing at home or taking an easy day, she entertains herself with stuffed toys or bones. She'll come sit down and lay in your lap while you watch TV. And sometimes it feels like she's actually watching TV herself. She has been chasing the dolphins and whales on and off the TV screen when watching Netflix documentaries about ocean. Roxy will be well suited for an active family that can give her plenty of play time, continue to work on her positive reinforcement socialization with both humans and other dogs. She is a little nervous when meeting other dogs, but some yummy treats for positive reinforcement have been working well to get her to slowly open up to new people and dogs. show less

Unfortunately she is still recovering from a FHO surgery about a year ago. She’s needing to have limited activity and physical therapy 3 times a week for 3-4 months and then re-evaluated by the orthopedist.  show less
