Rescue/Shelter Description
GFF is focused on reducing the number of homeless cats in Marshall and as of 2020 Cullman County. We do this is 3 ways. We have a trap, neuter, return (TNR) program where stray or feral cats are fixed and returned to live out the rest of their lives without adding to the population. We have a kitten rescue program. Our focus is on rescuing young kittens, typically from newborn to 6 weeks. They are fixed at 2 pounds and then put up for adoption. We also have a reduced cost spay and neuter program for low income families. We started with just a TNR program in 2014. The kitten rescue and reduced cost program were added when resources allowed. Since 2014 thru the end of 2019 2681 cats/kittens have been fixed. 2020 is a big year for us. In February 2020, we are opening the only rescue shelter in both Marshall and Cullman Counties. We will be located in Arab, AL and are excited to see what changes this will bring to our programs and how many more cats we can help.
