Lola is 8 years old and weighs 65lbs (slightly underweight). She is a Great Pyrenees mix. Lola is an absolute joy! She is very loving and affectionate. Lola would do best with older children who understand giving her space when needed. She gets along well with other dogs and when she was in the shelter in Kentucky, she wasn’t bothered by the shelter cat.  In the house, she is pretty mellow. She likes to look out the window and even watches TV! She has a curious mind and is very interested in the small critters outside like squirrels and rabbits. For this reason, she will do better with a fenced in yard so that she has the freedom to run and not accidentally injure herself on a lead. She WILL chase after anything that catches her eye. So far, she hasn’t shown much interest in toys, but she did chase after a ball. Just chased it, didn’t fetch it. This interest could be fostered into a fun activity for her.  She is rather quiet and not much of a barker. That may change as she becomes more comfortable. She did alert her foster mom when she heard something outside and ran to the back door. She will be a great warning system for her family. Great Pyrenees have a reputation for being very loyal and loving family dogs and although she’s a mix, we have seen this trait in her from the beginning. Lola is very food driven. She eats VERY quickly. Once she knows that her meals are coming on a regular basis, she will probably slow down. A slow feeder bowl would benefit her until this behavior stops. She LOVES treats too!  As far as basic commands, Lola hasn’t learned any in her 8 years.  She will need an adopter who is willing to continue working with her through the learning process. Her intelligence and desire for treats and positive reinforcement should make the process pretty easy. We haven’t had much of an opportunity, since she arrived, to work on leash manners, but the little experience we've had with her on a leash leads us to believe she will need work in this area as well.  Lola would probably do best in a home without a lot of steps. She seems intimidated by the stairs in her fosters home. She can climb them, but we feel that due to her age and her breed’s tendency for joint issues, her forever home should be one level. She would be much happier without a mountain to climb every day.  FOSTER MOM’S OVERALL OPINION ON LOLA: A wonderful family dog! She’s still very active for her age, yet fine to snuggle with you on the couch while you watch a movie. You may need to remind her that she’s not a lap dog! She does love it outdoors as well. Please don’t let her age intimidate you. There is nothing better than the love and loyalty you will get from a senior dog. Personally, I’ve rescued 2 seniors in the past and hands down, they were the BEST dogs I’ve ever had! It’s like they know they’ve been given a second chance and will thank you every day for the rest of their lives!  Please apply at crossyourpaws.com if you are interested in giving a forever home. Rocco has been discharged from OSU veterinary hospital and is AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!! 🥰❤️😍 Rocco was evaluated by a GI specialist and Neurology. They believe Rocco had a small GI bleed which he has since recovered from. The neurologist feels that the prednisone has done miraculous improvement from Rocco being surrendered , dragging his back legs, to now walking and being able to run! They did not feel surgery is appropriate at this time because of his improvement!!  Rocco is going to be a CYP forever foster and CYP will pay for any medical issues related to his spine/ back legs that need addressed in the future for the rest of his life ❤️ The vets verbalized REST will be the best healing agent for the next four weeks which means he will need to remain calm, off of stairs, couches, no jumping, no playing with other dogs for that time frame and then he will need to be seen for an evaluation to see if he can return to a normal life playing, jumping, running, and living his best life!! Can anyone take a guess at what happens when foster families with cross your paws hears that there is a beagle that needs fostered ? THEY FIGHT TO THE DEATH FOR THEM! Fists up, ready to swing!!!! 😂 why you may ask ? Because beagles are what we call “FOOL PROOF”. Beagles tend to fit into any new home, great beginner dogs, easy to make happy, love other dogs, cats, kids, and smile all day everyday! Rocco is no different! This young boy is nothing short of the sweetest thing on this planet and would NEVER hurt a fly !!  Rocco will need to go to a home with older kids, no dogs over 50lbs, and someone that can provide a calm environment. This is only due to his current spinal injury and a suggestion from the vets due to him needing the optimal rest. The vet verbalized concern that a larger dog would be a risk of injuring Rocco during play and did not want any risk of young children possibly picking him up wrong/ dropping him. He would LOVEEEE another small dog in the home to play with as they are very comforting to him!  If you feel that you can love and nurture Rocco back to 100% and give him the calm home he needs to fully recover, please apply at crossyourpaws.com! If you’ve already submitted an application and would like it updated to include Rocco, please send a private FB message to the rescue! ❤️ show less

Please help Rufus make the next Kentucky transport! Rufus is a very friendly boy. He's a lab/chow mix, almost 2 years old and weights 80lbs! He's a lot to love! Gets along good with other dogs if introduced properly. No cats please. He has been around older kids and did great with them.  Please ready about Rufus from a concerned citizen in his community: “This is an inquiry about a neighborhood stray dog that was picked up, we called him Rufus. He came to our house last fall, we & several neighbors fattened him back up and he visited every house, every day. I just wanted you to know he is a sweetheart & is great with kids, not aggressive at all. I think he was picked up because he killed one of the neighbors cat. The only problem we had with him is he loved to chase cars. I was hoping you would let me know what happens to him, it would be a great comfort. He did great with our small dog & even let her eat out of his bowl. He wasn't  aggressive with either of my friends dogs either. They loved him like we did. He would walk with my neighbor thru the woods to her Mom's every morning. She said he was good with another neighborhood dog as well & they hunted groundhogs together. He doesn't have a mean heart at all. I just don't know why he attacked the cat😥” Please apply at crossyourpaws.com if you are interested in giving a forever home. ( must read this bio in a country accent )  Hey y’all ! My name is Susie S’mores aka sue for short cause I’m suuuuuuuuuuuuuper sweet 🥰 I was just rescued by cross your paws. Guess where I had been living ?!?! A WIRE CAGE! Yep. You read that right I lived in a wire cage about four feet off the ground. My little toes had to balance on the wires of the cage like a trapeze artist. I lived there for about 4 years of my life. You can see the picture above … 😔 I have decided that it is my time to shine. It’s my time for a new life. IT’S MY TIME TO LIIIIIIIVVEEEE!  My foster mom is great. She took me to the vet for a check up. I got a clean bill of health! They say I’m a 5 year old beagle. I’m a little on the hefty size, 38 lbs. ( hence my name Susie s’mores cause I love foooooddd )  I’m a very laid back girl. I’m very thankful to be rescued. I LOVE my other dog friends at my foster home. I have started to chase the cats so it is kind of dependent on the cat if they like to play or if they don’t want to be bothered, I’m probably not right for that home! I would be great for a retired couple or a family with kids that are looking for a gentle dog ❤️ Moral of the story, if you’re looking for the definition of perfect ….a lady with beautiful, brown, beagle eyes and a body that’s thicker than a snicker that’ll spoon you while watching Netflix ( what a dream ) then you can apply for me at crossyourpaws.com 😍!! show less
