Meet Abel bonded brother of Cain.   Abel is a cute 11 month old Plott Hound/Lab mix that weighs around 50 lbs, and is just about full grown. Able and his brother were found with their mother living under a house trying to survive on their own. Abel was very scared and skinny when we rescued him and his brother.  Abel is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered and Heartworm negative.YOU MUST OWN YOUR OWN HOME, HAVE A FENCED IN YARD,  We recommend any other dogs in the house be female.  His foster writes this about him: Abelis inquisitive in nature. He loves to play fetch outside with a tennis ball. Abel likes to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle and will loyally follow you around the house. He is working on his walking skills with a leash and harness. Abel is a little more shy than his brother and takes a little time to warm up to someone new. He always wants to be busy, finding anything he can to play with. Abel loves to play tug of war with his brother and chew on a Kong. Abel knows basic commands such as sit, lay down, stay and shake. He’s eager to learn new tricks and is treat motivated to do so. Abel is house and crate trained. He is heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccinations and is neutered. Meet Briggs: Briggs is a 3 year old brindled neutered male pit bull mix.  Briggs  is a happy guy who enjoys being around people but is not necessarily snuggly. He has come a very long way in his trust in humans but still hesitates with touch around his head and neck. Perhaps some day he will let go of the negative past experiences that have led him to be wary of touch. Brigg's person should understand this and not impose affection for which he is not ready, they should use gentle hands and over time this will win his favor. When he trains and walks with his trainers, his face is happy and his tail wags. He loves receiving praise for jobs well done and certainly enjoys treats as well. Briggs is extremely proficient in his obedience skills and workouts and really enjoys the stability, predictability and positive affirmations that they bring to his life. In our hopes for the best possible future for Briggs, we are seeking a person or couple who has a good balance of head and heart. Logic and love can and should live together to help guide him in the most positive, proactive and balanced way possible in order to teach him how to navigate this world. Spoiling will not allow him to see a leader, and that is what makes a dog like Briggs secure… positive, fair, calm and balanced leadership. Love through leadership will bond Briggs to a new family and win his respect, love and loyalty.  Briggs had been attacked many times by a neighborhood dog who had broken out of its fence.  A few dogs in his life have also roughed him up in aggressive play and his trust in dogs has diminished. He can be trained, handled and walked around dogs safely but to ensure his complete rehabilitation, a home with no dogs is necessary.  While we haven’t seen him around small animals or children to evaluate his behavior in those situations, a home with no children or other animals would allow Briggs less distractions as well as allow the human the utmost in quality time with him. Briggs has been with Tall Tails Training & Boarding for 2+ weeks and has excelled in his learning curve and trust rehabilitation. Counter-conditioning his previous experiences, de-sensitizing him to stress, instinct and impulse control along with building an inner calmness in Briggs have been the focus of his training program. Owner training (in the form of private lessons) is necessary and will be included in the new foster or owner’s experience with Briggs. Briggs shows great promise for being a wonderful companion with a loving and balanced human.  If you are interested in adopting Brock please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.  show less

Cain-11  month old plott house/lab mix.(Bonded brother of Abel).  He weighs around 50lb and is just about full grown.  Cain and his brother were found with their mother living under a house trying to survive on their own.  Cain had an injured leg when we rescued him and was very skinny.  We have spent months getting Cain's leg taken care of and healed so he can finally run and play and catch up on the puppy months he lost because of his leg.  Cain and his brother Abel are a bonded pair.  They are both up to date on vaccines and neutered.  To adopt these brothers YOU MUST OWN YOUR OWN HOME, HAVE A FENCED IN YARD,  We recommend any other dogs in the house be female.  His foster writes this about him: Cain is a loveable, affectionate dog. He has overcome a few leg wounds over the last few months. Cain minds his manners and knows simple commands such as sit, lay down and stay. He enjoys being outdoors and likes to walk on the leash with a harness. Cain plays fetch occasionally and loves to chew on socks. He is content to pull up a pillow and chill out- he is a pillow hog though if you allow him to be! He also believes he is a lap dog, so be prepared to cuddle with him. He loves to snuggle and loves belly rubs. Cain is content to lay around and catch some rays outside or play with a ball or Kong. Now that his leg has healed, he is becoming more playful. Cain is house and crate trained. He is heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccinations and is neutered. Cain is good with our two dogs and has done well in another foster home for the day with other dogs.  If you are interested in adopting Cain and Abel, please go to our website at Charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.  show less

Meet Good Boy:  Good Boy is a 3 year old Lab Mix that weighs around 65 lbs. Good Boy has had a very rough start in life and dying of Heart Worm disease when we rescued him. He was an owner surrender to a kill shelter where he was going to be put down due to his bad health. We decided to rescue him and try to save him. We immediately rush him to Mississippi State University who has one of the best Veternary Programs in the nation. Good Boy was in critical condition and was given little chance of surviving. After many weeks of treatment and blood transfusions Good Boy started showing signs of improvement. He beat the odds and after 6 months has going through the treatment he survived. This boy is very special to us and we are so proud of him. Good Boy is loving life and now ready for his forever home. Good Boy loves people and gets along with other dogs. Good Boy will need a home with a fenced in yard and someone that can give him lots of love and time. He loves to be outside enjoying the sun and running in the yard. He loves to be inside and laying his head in your lap. This boy would do better in a home with older children as he gets so excited and might knock a small child down. Good Boy is house trained but needs a little work on the leash as he likes to pull. Good Boy is fully vetted, up to date on all his shots and neutered. If you are interested in adopting this awesome boy please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.  show less

PLEASE NOTE: Must own your own home, have a fenced in yard and breed experience. Meet Max! Max is a 4 year old Shepherd/Lab Mix, He was part of a cruelty case where he was found living on a short chain with no food and water. Max was seized and housed at a local Vet in Mississippi until the court awarded him to our Rescue. Max is now in a foster home learning to be a dog and loving all the attention his foster family is giving him. His foster mom says,  " Wanted to send you this from Max's foster. 🥰 Some good news is that I recently have been promoted to a lap dog! I love greeting my foster mom when she gets home from work. I get so excited I sit up like a prairie dog. One of my favorite activities is racing my foster mom to the couch to cuddle. I win every time! I’m shy so it takes a while for me to warm up to you. Once I know I can trust you I’m a sweetheart who loves constant pets. If I think you aren’t not giving me enough attention I will gently place my paw on your leg and give my best puppy eyes! Speaking of puppies, I get along with all types of animals! Even cats! I thrive in a calmer environment where I can relax and just be the goodest boy ever!" He is looking for his forever home up North! Max will need a home who will be patient with him as hes a little timid due to his life of living on a chain and little interaction. Recommend kids 10 and older. Please Apply at charliescrusaders.org to Foster or Adopt  show less

Please Note: You must own your own home, have a fenced in yard and breed experience. Meet Maxwell! Maxwell is believed to be a german shepherd mix around 1 year old weighing 75lbs. Maxwell was found dumped at a farm in Grenada, MS where a kind woman took him in until he could get into rescue. His foster mom says, "Maxwell is sweet, energetic, playful, affectionate, curious and alert. He is dog and people friendly, loves to play in the water, is respectful of the pack order, will cuddle on the couch at night and loves to go for a ride in the car... basically summing up a classic German Shepherd Dog!  He is house trained, has ‘sit’ and ‘come’ mastered and is gentle when he takes a treat.  We are working on the other basics, along with manners and leash walking.   Maxwell will follow you around like a shadow but does have his quiet moments when he goes off on his own for quiet time, a nap in the sun,  or a walkabout in the yard for a perimeter check or to chase away a blowing leaf. Maxwell will check in with a nose nudge for a head pat or a belly rub, then will then lay down at your feet.  He is crate trained as well but is well behaved in the house.  Maxwell would do well with an older dog to learn the ropes of dog life in a forever home.  He is a fabulous pup who doesn’t bark often but when when he does, he is great home security!  Maxwell is up to date on shots, neutered, and heartworm positive and the rescue is covering his treatment which he has already started. Maxwell is a love to be around and will make a great addition to your family. Meet Pinky! Pinky is believed to be a 2 year old Cattle dog mix! She was found as a stray in a rural part of Mississippi, no one stepped forward to claim her so now she is looking for her forever home. Pinky's foster mom says this about her:  Pinky is a fun-loving dog who loves her foster family.  She gets along well with kids and other dogs.  Pinky does well on a leash and ignores other dogs while out taking a walk.  She is very curious about cats and will give them a good run for their money, but she hasn’t harmed one.  Pinky loves her crate and will go in just by saying “kennel up”.  She loves it so much when the other dogs are napping, she will go hang out in her kennel and play with her toys. Pinky is housebroken and hasn’t had one accident in the house since her arrival and will let you know she needs to go outside just by standing by the door.  Pinky likes to meet the Amazon and UPS man at the door and will quickly return inside the home just by calling her name. Pinky would do best in a home with children and other dogs.  She loves to play ball, tug of war and snuggle with the kids on the couch.  Pinky loves her people and will follow you from room to room.  Any family that adopts Pinky will feel like they have hit the jackpot.  She is a loving dog and just wants to be with her fur and human family.  Pinky is fully vetted, up to date on all her shots, spayed and going through Heart worm treatment. Apply today to Foster or Adopt this sweet girl at Charliescrusaders.org    show less

LADIES!!!!!!LADIES!!!!!LADIES!!!Meet one of our longest residents with Charlies Crusaders : RAMSEY!  Why do you ask? Because Ramsey does not trust men, so he needs a female owner. Other then that he is the greatest dog! Some backstory to Ramset as to why he is the way he is......Ramesy was seized as part of a cruelty case, he was then taken to the shelter where one of our volunteers met him and couldnt let him be euthinized and decided to foster him till he found a good home.. We have know idea what happened between him and his previous owner, but we can tell you it was a man and it was not pleasant. On the bright side he has been super spoiled for a year with his foster mom and her 3 other dogs of all sizes! His foster mommy took him through Heartworm treatment and he has the all clear now!Ramesy is rambuncious at times so he will need a fenced in yard to run off his energy freely! He is potty trained, crate trained, gets along with all dogs, is neutered and UTD on all vaccines. At 40 lbs Ramsey is on the smaller side and estimated to be around 4 yrs old.Ramsey is currently being fostered in South Haven, MS and will need an experienced owner. All our dogs deserve a loving home but sometimes it takes a little longer to find them...... PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST OWN YOUR OWN HOME, HAVE A FENCED IN YARD AND BREED EXPERIENCE  Meet Rosie! Rosie is believed to be a 1-2 year old pit mix! Her foster mom says this about her: Rosie was found as a stray in Fayette County, TN near a busy highway.  She didn’t have a collar or microchip.  It appears she may have had puppies however no puppies were located, and Rosie didn’t have any milk production.  She has been seen in the area for several days and appeared to have been dumped as is often the case.   She wasn’t sure of me at first and wouldn’t let me pet her initially but after offering her a treat, which she took very cautiously, she let me put a leash around her neck.  At this point she was eager to get in the car with me and start her new life.   All About Rosie    Rosie loves people!  She never meets a stranger.  She is a big hit at a local pet store among employees and customers.  Rosie gets along great with other dogs.  She is not food aggressive or possessive of her toys, treats or bones.  She is very playful, respectful and submissive.  She has been known to break out into some zoomies to show her happiness.  She has a friendly and affectionate personality.  She will often show you her belly and loves all of the attention she can get from her people.  Rosie appears to be housebroken and learned how to use the doggy dog by watching the other dogs in the home.  She is a very smart young lady.  Rosie is crated trained and doesn’t whine or bark while in the crate. Rosie is young and has puppy energy at times but is eager to please her people.  She will jump up on people to say hello or when excited but with training this behavior can be corrected.  She will also put her paws on the counter to see what is happening but again she takes correction well.  Rosie is working on her leash skills at this time. When she is on a leash, she pulls but is responding to training. She will occasionally join in with the other dogs if they are barking but then quickly goes back to her happy self.  Rosie continues to work on her manners and is improving daily.   Unfortunately, Rosie is heart worm positive however this can be treated, and she will live a long happy life.  Rosie was very thin when she was rescued but with all of the love and good food from her foster family she is gaining weight.  This girl has a health appetite!   Rosie would do best in a home without small children as she may knock them over until she learns her manners.  She would lick them to death!  She is a total love bug and is just content to be with her people.  The family that picks Rosie will get a wonderful forever companion.  Apply today at Charliescrusaders.org  show less

Meet Sage! Sage is a 1 year old, 50 lb male with similarities to a Caanan dog mix. He is from a litter of 5 who were found living on the streets of Mississippi and had little to no human contact. He was transported to a foster in PA who has been caring for him for the past 6 months. Sage's foster mom describes him as sweet, playful and goofy. He is housebroken, loves toys and is food motivated. He loves other dogs and will come up to you a lot quicker if a dog is already near you. He will run into his crate when he is scared. She leaves the door open so he can go in and out whenever he needs to.   Having come from the streets, Sage will need a home that is willing to give him the time he needs to feel safe and comfortable. It could be a couple of weeks or a couple of months until he trusts you. He needs a secure 6ft fence and another dog to help him adjust. YOU MUST OWN YOUR HOME AND NO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12. He needs an open crate to go into when he feels scared. He has a GPS collar that can go with him. Sage does not like leashes, so he would want to be a homebody with his new family to have the freedom to play in the house and yard.   Once he trusts you, you will gets lots of kisses and snuggles. He is an amazing dog who just needs time to adjust. Sage is a true rescue dog who has so much love to give if you give him the chance to show you who he is.
