Meet Banjo! Banjo is a 4 year old Plott Hound mix weighing about 65 pounds. He is a beautiful boy with his brindle coat and white chest and markings and he has the most expressive face. Banjo is a sweetheart and a fragile soul that likes to be told he is a good boy and he just wants to please. Banjo loves to be active and is a high energy dog. He enjoys walks, hikes, car rides, and playing. Most of all, Banjo enjoys cuddling with his people on the couch. Banjo struggles with confidence and anxiety issues, but has been working on these things with a trainer and will do wonderfully in the right home while continuing his hard work and with an adopter that is knowledgeable with anxious dogs. Banjo is reactive to new situations and he is learning to come out of his shell and be more engaged in the world and not so selective and nervous around strangers. Banjo is also very food motivated! Banjo is well versed in obedience training and knows sit, crawl, down, stay, bed, speak, and roll over. He is muzzle trained, house trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. Banjo will not chew on bones or play with toys and his fosters are working on getting him to learn what toys are. Banjo would be best in a home with a single person or couple. Banjo gets along with other dogs when introduced slowly, he will play with them, and could do well in a home with multiple dogs but needs the proper iand slow introduction with an experinced dog owner. Banjo would prefer a home with no children and likes women more than men. Banjo requires a fenced in yard and an active adopter. If you are interested in adopting Banjo, please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.  show less

🔴 PLEASE NOTE MUST OWN YOUR OWN HOME AND HAVE A FENCED IN YARD🔴 Meet Betty.  Betty is a six-year-old  American Pit Bull Terrier. Betty is the sister and litter mate of Billy who is also featured at Charlie’s Crusaders Pet Rescue.  Betty has been home-raised all her life.  She did go to a new home for nine months but was reclaimed by the original owner and breeder because the new owner failed to provide shelter for her.  Other terms of the puppy contract were also ignored forcing the original owner to take possession of her.  Recently Betty’s owner was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension making it impossible to care for four dogs.  Betty is a spayed female, current on all her shots including rabies.  Vet records are available.  Betty loves kids and other dogs but is probably too much dog for small children.  She will be a great companion for children eight years and up.  Betty is housebroken.  She loves to go for walks and loves to play with her brother Billy.  She is very friendly and loves attention from visitors and strangers.  She settles down quickly after an initial introduction.  She loves human touch and really loves to cuddle in bed or on the sofa.  She and Billy will be wonderful additions to any family.  Betty and Billy are crate familiar but have rarely been crated.betty and billy are a bonded pair and would like to stay together. Meet Kipper:  Kipper is a very sweet 6 month old male English shepherd/Australian shepherd/husky/pit bull mix. I am fostering him for Charlie's Crusaders Pet Rescue. He arrived from Mississippi a week ago.  The monster that had him previously clipped his ears and tail off with a scissors to make him appear intimidating. He was and is still fearful of many things but he has made amazing progress with the help of my mentor dogs. He has learned how to use the dog door, been bathed, had his nails clipped, been introduced to the lawnmower, weed eater, and vacuum cleaner. He has never had an accident in the house and I only crate him when I leave the house or when I am preparing their food. He is not food aggressive with humans but he has not yet learned to be respectful of the other dogs boundaries around food. He has started to play with my other dogs and my seven year old granddaughter is teaching him that hands are not toys. He is playful but he settles down nicely and sleeps through the night in my bedroom. He walks nicely on the leash staying close to you because he is still unsure but he is very interested in critters. He is very smart and responds to corrections quickly. He cannot wait to get to his forever home!  He is available for adoption through Charlie’s Crusaders.Kipper is up to date on all his shots and neutered. If you are interested in adopting the sweet boy please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org And fill out our adoption application. show less

Meet Lexie:  Lexie is a sweet 18 month old Austrialian Shepherd mix that weighs around 50 lbs.  Lexie lived as a stray on the streets of a small rural Mississippi town for the first part of her life. She showed up, extremely pregnant and malnourished, at the home of a very kind and caring family, and they took her in, fed her, and gave her shelter. She gave birth to her puppies and the family helped her raise and care for them until we rescued them and found great forever homes. Lexie has remained at the home since then, and has learned how to love and how to play. The family has 3 young children who play with her daily, and she is great with all of them. She is house trained, crate trained, and is coming along well with leash training. She is good with other dogs, and has never shown any aggressiveness during mealtime or any other time. She rides great in the car, isn’t bad to bark, and has never chewed and destroyed any property. She does enjoy her chew toys, and she is very treat motivated. She likes cuddle time with her family, and will sleep in a crate at night. She is very smart, easy to train, and will make someone a wonderful new best friend. Lexie is up to date on all her shots, spayed and just finished her heart worm treatment. Lexie will need a home with a fenced in yard. If you are interested in adopting Lexie please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.  show less

Marshmallow was born 3/22/22 in one of our foster homes.  His mommy had been left at a groomers with who we believe was the daddy?  They left them both with a fictitious phone number.  The groomer reached out to us for help.  Mommy and daddy both broke with Parvo so we immediately got them to an emergency hospital.  Upon examination of mommy, it was discovered she was pregnant with 4 babies.  When mommy was clear of Parvo she moved to a foster to prepare for her delivery.  She delivered 4 healthy, beautiful babies; 2 boys and 2 girls.  We believe them to be Pug, Chihuahua and terrier mix and will probably to be around 10-15lbs fully grown; that’s a best guess.  Marshmallow is super sweet, well socialized and knows how to use pee pads.  He is a young puppy, so he"s not crate/house trained and will need lots of patience going through puppyhood.  Puppies are a TON of work!  Please be sure you are mentally, physically and financially able.  Too young to be altered; we will discuss options with an approved application.  He's had  3 sets of shots and been dewormed regularly.  Children in home need to be over 6 years of age because of the his size.  A fenced yard with wire is required due to his size.  Applications can be found at; charliescrusaders.org show less

Meet Mikey the tripod! Mikey is a handsome 3 year old, 50lb male Black Mouth Cur mix. He was part of a cruelty situation in TN, and our partner rescue group followed him for 6 months reporting his owners for cruelty. He has scarring around his neck from an embedded collar. His back left foot and part of his leg are gone either by some kind of attack he experienced while chained in the yard or he was caught in his chain and freed himself. He is up to date on vaccines and neutered. He is house trained and crate trained. Mikey has come so far and is ready to look for his furever home. His fosters have had Mikey since March 2021. Since then he has become healthy and heartworm free, mastered using his prosthetic, and has been seeing At Attention Dog Trainers so that he can be prepared to meet his new family. Mikey would be perfect for someone looking for a special dog with special needs and a special heart. He will need experienced, patient owners (Kids 16+) and a slow transition. When meeting new people, Mikey needs a hands-off, neutral approach so he can sniff and trust at his own pace. Once he knows you, you are his buddy. Mikey knows sit, stay, and leave it. He loves car rides and going for walks. He walks very nicely on leash. While on a walk, Mikey can get excited if he sees a reactive dog; however he is getting very good at redirecting his attention to his handler. He is excited but friendly when meeting new dogs. Mikey currently lives with a large dog, a small dog, and three cats. He likes to play with other dogs and shares his toys nicely. He gets along great with all his housemates. *Mikey needs to be separated when pet meals are prepared- he went a long time having to fight for his food, and although he can sit, stay, and wait, this situation is stressful for him. We have had great success with using a gate or door, and separating Mikey during meal prep and while he is eating. Mikey loves peanut butter. He looks forward to his favorite food each time his prosthetic is attached or removed.
