Whaddya mean I’m not a beagle?  Hey, I’m Dillon and I, sigh, am a husky mix.  How did I end up in a beagle rescue?  Husky, shmusky I am a beagle in my heart.  Well, I was an add on with a beagle that was saved from a rural pound.  Then I got sick but I am feeling great now and ready for my forever home.  So, a little about me.  I am about 6-7 months old and 25 skinny lbs. My foster mom is working on fattening me up.  We are also working on sit, pottying outside and sharing.  Sometimes, because I was so hungry, I don’t like to share snacks.  Currently I eat in my crate and I am learning to wait for my snacks.  I am also working on sit, not counter surfing, and walking on a leash, which I have to say, is my favorite.  What else do I like besides snacks and walks?  I LOVE to play with my foster sibling Dorothy.  We have SO much fun!  I also like hard bones, tug of war with anything and stuffies.  I am crate trained and working on my house breaking.  Unlike most beagles, I am not much of a barker.  When I am done playing and wrestle I like to snuggle up and watch a little baseball.  If you are looking for a friend for a life time of adventures you fill out an application at www.bassetandbeagle.org.  Ask for Dillon- like the hus-ski resort!  Lol! Dillon is up to date on his shots, neutered, hw-, and microchipped.  His adoption fee is $350. show less

Ellie Rose is one of the 8 testing lab beagles we rescued in April.  She really has come a LONG way and is ready for a forever home.  The beagles are smaller most around 20 pounds and between 2-4 years old. What a fun dog!  Ellie Rose had a different life now that she is no longer  used for medical testing. She loves toys, including stealing them from her brother and sister at her foster home.  Ellie Rose plays well with the other dogs in the home. She will race circles around the other dogs to get them to play.  She loves to go on walks and does well on the leash.  Ellie Rose has been around a 11 and 13 year old and does great.  She has not met a cat but says she would be interested to see what the fuss is about. She is doing very well with potty training and is down to 1 accident every 2-3 days.  Which is amazing since up until April she had never been outdoors! When stressed, she pants.  Ellie Rose settles down within a few minutes.  She is still learning about the world outside of a lab so her new family will be patience to let her explore at her pace. Ellis does not do well in the car.  She will get sick. Since she has only known love and care from her foster mom Ellie is very attached to her foster mom.  She gets anxious when the foster mom leaves.  She loves to sleep with her foster mom.  She goes in her crate when her foster mom leaves.  Ellie doesn’t care much for treats (weirdo), but she loves her food!  She is working hard on her manners, and occasionally needs to be reminded to stay out of the garbage, and to not put her paws on the table when there is food on the table. Ellie Rose loves to be outside and relax in the sun on the deck.  She is currently using a dog door, but also goes through the sliding glass door. At times she will stay outside for a while. She is fully vetted including spayed, microchipped and all shots are up to date. Ellie Rose is fostered in the Omaha area with an adoption fee of $350. If you're ready to explore to show Ellie how wonderful life outside a cage is please apply for her at www.bassetandbeagle.com!  show less

“A Classic Name for a Classic Dog" “A Classic Name for a Classic Dog" Fido is a 5 year old hound mix, an amalgam of breeds we like to call the “All American” or “Heinz 57" dog. He was rescued when his owner was incapacitated, and no longer able to take care of him. For the past couple of years, he has essentially been feral, wandering the countryside, always in search of his next meal. Despite all that, he is a remarkably well-adjusted fellow. Fido is fully housebroken (which is somewhat amazing), and has learned to tolerate being crated during the day. He is crated because he is an escape artist, and can jump a short fence. He would prefer a home with a tall fence. He is currently allowed outside while on a tether, and tolerates this well. Though he has had a ruff run of luck, Fido has a very sweet disposition. He gets along great with his foster home's resident dogs, has shown no food aggression nor resource guarding behavior. He has not been around either children or cats in his foster home, so his tolerance for them is currently unknown. He is learning to cuddle, after being somewhat stand-offish. After failure to gain weight, it was discovered that Fido suffers from pancreatic enzyme insufficiency, which means that he cannot properly digest and process food on his own. However with the use of a daily pancreatic supplement added to his canned food, he is able to digest well, and he is now a normal weight. Fido is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered and microchipped but could still use some meat on his bones. He will make a fantastic loving addition to the right home.  Hisadoption fee is $350 and an application can be filled out at bassetandbeagle.org show less

My name is Molly.  I am a sweet, 6-7 year old, petite beagle girl with doe-eyes and a gentle spirit. My beagle voice is soft and expressive -- I can say so many things!!! When you rub my tummy I say “ Ohhhhhhh … that’s nice….”  When I snuffle in the grass and find a bunny trail I REALLY CELEBRATE and let everybody know how clever I can be!!! My favorite things to do are easy.  Inside, I like to follow the people-pack around and gaze at them.  The things people can do are so amazing!  I send “I love you” messages with my eyes all the time, just in case they forget.  I am eager to bond with my new fur-ever family so we can send love messages to each other! Outside I am a different girl altogether!  I am an awesome tracker --you won’t believe how good I am!!!  I love to play in the grass and explore the woods.  Because I am petite and an amazing tracker I can fit through the smallest of spaces.  So off-leash I need a very, very secure space.  Leash walks are fun too!  I am polite and comfortable around people and dogs (I haven’t tried other kinds of pets yet).  Dog parks and daycare are fun for me too! My prior home didn’t have a fenced yard and I got attacked by coyotes.  It was very, very scary so please make sure my play yard is safe.  I am all healed up now. You wouldn’t even notice. It hasn’t slowed me down at all.  One thing I should tell you … I still get very, very small and flatten my body if you reach for me from behind.  It doesn’t make me angry at all -- just shy and afraid.  I like it best if you reach for me from the front so I can see you first.  I am a very good beagle girl and love to be praised.  Treats are okay but petting me is THE BEST!!!   I have learned to wait patiently at the door for potty time, I have perfect house manners and will love it if you can find cozy, snuggly spots for me to call my own.  I know I will learn your house rules very fast, and can’t wait to show you what a loving, big-hearted girl I am!!! Molly’s adoption fee is $350, hw neg, fully vetted, just had a dental, spayed, and you can apply to adopt her at www.bassetandbeagle.org show less

Hi, I am Pixel!  I am a Lab/Pointer Mix and I am around 5 months old and 37 lbs, I am not going to be tiny!  I am a very energetic puppy that loves to run and play. Having a fenced in yard would be best for me. I love toys and those crazy squeakers things inside them and kill them the first chance I get.  I know sit and I am working on other commands. I’m also a champ leash walker and love to go for walks and see all my neighborhood friends.  I’m your typical rambunctious pup that just keeps on going.  I really like people and love to get in lots of snuggles and kisses.  I enjoy playing and wrestling other doggies. I would love a home with another dog since I really want someone to play with.  I have met a cat and they were interesting but a little scary.  I will need someone with patience that is willing to work with me on my basic commands and potty training as I am not fully potty trained.  You will need to teach me where to go and how to ask until I get the hang of it.  I sleep with my humans at night. I will kennel up, especially if treats are involved, when the family leaves. If you are looking for a puppy that will want LOTS of attention and you have the patience for a puppy, I may be what you are looking for.  I will need toys or chew bones to keep me occupied, maybe a playmate and of course lots of snuggles and kisses from you.   I am ready to move into my new home anytime.  I am spayed, I have been microchipped, dewormed and received my puppy shots along with rabies.  My adoption fee is $400.  Apply for me at www.bassetandbeagle.org if you are ready for a forever companion. I am currently fostered in Omaha NE. show less

Were you ever called "the wild child" but deep down you were only wild to get attention?  If you answered yes then we must be soul mates.  My name is Bree and although I'm only about 9 months old, I'm not really wild, I'm just a hot mess.  I want attention so badly that I'll yell and scream for it! I want to be either playing with my fur siblings or snuggled up with my foster parents.  If I'm not getting either one, I will let everyone know!  I am house broken but you better not put me in a kennel, how can I get attention in my kennel? A kennel means I'm alone and I don't like being alone.  That sounds bad, doesn't it?  I'm really not afraid of being alone so long as someone (person or dog) is with me.  I can be a little shy when meeting new people or dogs.  Well, not really shy but loud.  I want to get attention but I have to explain my demands first.  I am a little louder around men as I was abused by a man before I went into foster care.  Don't worry, all it takes is a couple of days for a man to toss me some chicken and show me some love and I warm right up!  A lot of active kids may be a little much for me especially at first.  When I went to the vet's office to get all of my vaccinations, spay and microchip, they called me a drama queen.  I kind of like being called Queen!  I'm not sure what it means exactly but being a queen has to be a good thing, right?  I know I'm only a small at 22 pounds, but I think I'd make a beautiful queen!  If you need a queen in your family, I need to meet you!  Bree is currently being fostered in the Kansas City area with an adoption fee of $350.  Contact www.bassetandbeagle.org and complete an adoption application to meet Bree.  show less

Red Solo pup You lift me up Let's have a party I love you  Red Solo pup!   So that might not be the actual words to the song but it's the way I prefer it! My name is Solo and I love to party with the other dogs in my foster home! There's nothing better that than a pup cake with a pup cone! Don't get me wrong, I'm not always a partier. I also love to be held, snuggled and played with too. I'm a quick learner, especially if food is offered. At only 6 months old I know I have a lot of learning still to do, like not jumping up on people (wtach out if you are a little kid- I may knock you over 'cause I love you sooo much), but I quickly learned sit. I'm also really good in my kennel and if you give me toys and appropriate things to chew on, I won't chew on things I shouldn't. I'm still learning how to walk on a leash but I don't pull a lot, I just like to go everywhere and see everything. I am potty trained but right now I have access to a doggy door and my foster mom says she's not sure what my cues are. That could be something I teach you so we can do some learning together! I also like to talk, foster mom says it's the cutest thing ever! They say I'm a Mountain Feist and shouldn't get more than 30 pounds. Right now, I weigh 20 pounds but either way, I think I'm great size to sit on your lap and cuddle with you. I'm a healthy puppy and up to date on all of my shots, neutered, microchipped and tested negative for heartworms. I'm currently residing in a foster home in the Kansas City area with an adoption fee of $350. If you need a Red Solo Pup then apply to adopt me today at www.bassetandbeagle.org. I'm ready when you are! show less

Hi! My name is Rhea and I’m a six-year old beagle mix.  I love people and warm up to them quickly, but I would like a home with no other dogs or cats, please! I just want to find my people that I can hang out with and spoil with kisses. I have lost over 10 pounds since I joined BBRH and would like a person that will keep taking me for daily walks so I can get down to my healthy weight. I really enjoy my walks and walk nicely on the leash, but I do get very excitable if I see other dogs, people and cars. I can be strong, so I will need my new friend to be a strong leader who can help me remember my manners and keep me safe. In return, I just might give them a break when I decide to stop and roll in the grass. Don’t worry, though, I will get back up so we can continue our walk! I am quiet and a good girl in the house. I love to have comfy beds and blankets to sleep in, and toys to play with (but I like to remove the stuffing so please make sure I always have a backup). I always like to keep a toy handy so I can toss it around with joy when my foster mom gets home! I just want to follow her around and observe from a polite distance, to make sure everything is okay. I won’t argue when it’s bedtime, and in the mornings, I like to do a little yoga and stretch out all my muscles. Bet you can’t guess my favorite pose! I also LOVE to lick and take car rides. I am the snuggliest girl you will ever meet! Wanna give this 6-year-old hunk of love a chance? Rhea is up to date on all vaccinations, HW neg, spayed, and $225 is her adoption fee.  She is fostered in Omaha. If interested in adoptiing Rhea, please apply at www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/ show less

Meet Sissy.  We call her Sissy the Spitfire or Sissy Pants because she is quite a character.  She is energetic 20 month old female beagle, 26 lbs, with soft fur and beautiful black and tan colors.  She was found abandon in southern Missouri.  She was taken in by an elderly woman who checked around the local area but couldn’t find her owners.  She wanted to keep Sissy but couldn’t keep up with her.   Her foster parents were surprised how quiet she was around the house.  Yes, she has her barking voice and several other cute and quieter voices when she stretches or yawns.  She is not a big barker except when she is playing.  She will do well with other dogs and she loves to play. She is pretty low maintenance and low key most of the time. She likes attention but is not a big snuggler.  Her foster parents think she will become a snuggler given some time.  We don’t know how she is with young kids or cats. She loves to sleep in her own little bed each night that’s kept at the foot of her foster parent’s bed. Sissy is house trained.  She's up to date on all shots, spayed and has gone through HW treatment and is now negative.  Her fosters parents gave her a flea/tick chew and heartworm preventative so she is good for the next month.  She is fostered in Kansas City. Sissy’s adoption fee is $350 and you can apply to adopt her at www.bassetandbeagle.org show less

Hello, my name is Skarlett O'Houndra and I am looking for my forever home. I don't know nothin’ 'bout birthin no babies since I will be spayed on 4-8-21. I frankly don't give a darn that in my past life I was left on a screened porch and unable to run free. I thought my life was over and that nothing would happen to me anymore. I was sent with these nice people from BBRH who gave me a foster home. There is one thing I do know and that is... I love my foster mom. I follow her everywhere including sticking my head in while she showers. Despite the crazy household with 3 human boys in it, I love them because we are alike. They like food and so do I. Sometimes I don't mind my manners and I jump up and take food from them, but not too rough. I will never be hungry again with them around. I'd love to have kids around if possible especially because I can cuddle with them. I am very energetic and love toys especially if they are stuffed animals.  I also love naps. As God as my witness, I'll learn to work on not being overprotective of my owners. Sometimes I get mad at my female foster sister (dog) as she wants snuggle time too with mom. I bark at her and tell her it is my turn. My foster mom doesn't let me do that though and re-directs me. Not sure how I feel about then darn yankees er I mean cats.  best to just not be around those scoundrels.   I'm going to need someone to help me work on my manners. I love rough housing with my foster sister (dog). Like, any hound I love having my nose to the ground. I like to jump up and though I'm learning not to, I probably do best with a 6ft fence to run around in and sniff all the sniffs. Frankly I don't give a darn about who you are or what you do as long as you'll love me, play with me and have patience with me. Please adopt me! Skarlett is spayed, up to date on shots and microchipped. She is approximately 35 lbs and 1 1/2 years old. She is potty and crate trained!  Skarlett's adoption fee is $350.00 and you can fill out an adoption application at www.bassetandbeagle.org. show less

Meet Snoopy the beagle!  Snoopy is a 4 year old male that is all beagle!  He is a little smaller than most beagles but makes up for it in personality and big ears!  We believe Snoopy has had tough first couple of years in homes that don’t know or understand beagles. He was rescued from the Humane Society in Wichita, KS.  His previous owners had several issues with him including biting feet.  We strongly believe Snoopy has been given a bad rap on account his previous owners didn’t know beagles.   Since he has been in foster care we have had no issues with him biting or aggressive behavior.  Matter of fact, Snoopy has been sleeping in our bed since his second day here.  He is a great snuggler!  He a great dog.  He is good on a leash/harness.  Remember he IS a beagle so that means it's all about the nose when he is out on the leash which I why he needs a harness.   Snoopy has a deeper bark than most beagles.  It comes out when he is tracking or has spotted a squirrel.  He has a keen eye for moving objects.  He will chase reflections on the floor/walls/ceilings.  Almost cat like, he will chase and bark at the reflections. Snoopy would be great for a home with another dog around the same age that likes to play.  He would really like a playmate.  Would recommend a home with older/teenage children vs younger.  We don’t know how he is around cats.  A fenced in yard would be best or several walks a day. Snoopy is neutered, up to date on all his shots, chipped, HW negative, and current with HW and flea/tic preventative.  He is fostered in Kansas City Snoopy’s’s adoption fee is $350 and you can apply to adopt him at www.bassetandbeagle.org show less
