Currently living together with Bryce, Yellowstone, Biscayne, Denali, Shenandoah, and Yosemite as well and get along well, but they are not hand tame. They will be easier to hand tame individually vs all together. Bryce and Yellowstone are the only ones that appear to be bonded so those 2 will need to be adopted together. At the time you are seeing this post, this bird is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application if you are interested in any of our animals. The application can be found at www.greendogsunleashed.org. If you send an inquiry to ask if the bird is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. We cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application, but if/when your application is approved, we can set up a meet and greet with the foster in person or over video or phone so that you can both determine if it is a good match for both Jagger and your family. Our goal is not to quickly adopt out animals but rather to find the perfect placement for every animal in our care. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: If we need additional information to process your application, we will send an email to request the information. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most animals. Please read the description to see if this bird is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the bird and family are a good fit, they would take the bird home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.org. The minimum donation fee for this bird is $25.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. show less

Ankara is a true Anatolian girl. She is a smart 1 year old, quick to react and wants to control the situation. She loves observing her surroundings and she loves life on her terms. She is kind, but stongwilled and willing to cuddle at the same time. True to breed, Ankara can be a pushy female, so she should be in an environment where the other dogs will not challenge her. She is much more tolerant of large breed males. She enjoys independent play and patrolling the perimeter, and likes having a job. We are looking for a home with Livestock Guardian Dog experience to best suit Ankara's needs.  At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Arthur is a wonderful, happy, playful and loving Doxie puppy who is good with dogs, cats, and people, and so far even chickens. He is all love and snuggles, but has a lot of energy that needs to be worked mentally and physically, and is going to make an active family very happy. Arthur will absolutely need a job, so are looking for an active family who understands enrichment, and that an adolescent pup needs appropriate boundaries.  Please Note: while Arthur has so much love to give, he is a VERY active Doxie. He plays disc and runs with the big dogs. With proper training he will do amazing things and give so much, but he is not your average lap Doxie. Preference will be given to a local adopter (living within 1 hr of zip code 22974). At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Benny is a mixed breed handsome fella about 4 years old who prefers a quieter home and does best as an only-dog. He prefers to meet new people outside first and then does well with them inside. He is very cuddly to his people and enjoys car rides and adventures. He loves lounging in the sunshine, barking at the deer in the field, and getting the zoomies all around his yard. He's a country boy at heart and would prefer the quieter life in the country. Apartment life and busy city life is not for him.  He should go to a home with older kids and no other dogs. He has been cat-indifferent so far. Benny is available to adopt through Green Dogs Unleashed. At the time you are seeing this post, Benny is still available for adoption. Meet Evie, a courageous survivor from the heart-wrenching hoarding case in North Carolina where we took in 20 dogs. Alongside her companions, she endured unspeakable hardships before finding her way to us through HSUS. In just a few weeks, these resilient pups have made incredible strides on their journey to recovery. Like her fellow survivors, Evie is a shy and soft-spoken girl. She's seeking a forever home filled with boundless love and unwavering patience. When faced with stress, her natural response is to freeze, underscoring her need for time and a dedicated owner committed to helping her rebuild trust in humans and the world around her. Evie's sweetness knows no bounds, and her foster family describes her as one of the easiest dogs they've ever cared for. She thrives in a tranquil environment, making her best suited for a peaceful home without small children, as sudden movements can make her a bit apprehensive, but she has proven to do well loving affection from older quieter kids. Evie adores human attention and revels in the joy of being petted. She exhibits a preference for the company of women, although she's gradually warming up to her foster dad, even challenging him to spirited games of tug-of-war when playtime strikes. This gentle girl moves at her own pace and is diligently learning the art of leash walking. House training has been a breeze, as she's proven to be a star pupil in this regard. Evie is deserving of a patient and understanding adoptive family who can appreciate the lasting effects of her past trauma. If you're ready to be the warm and loving presence in Evie's life that she so richly deserves, please consider opening your heart and home to this remarkable survivor. Your love and care will help her continue her healing journey. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Cockatiels are the smallest members of the cockatoo family, and Jagger has a giant personality tucked into his tiny self.  Cockatiels thrive on attention, so an adopter should have a lifestyle that accommodates interaction.  Jagger is still a fairly young bird of about two years, cockatiels may live 15 to 20 years with proper care.  Gentle and affectionate, Jagger loves attention.  While he doesn't care to sit on your finger, he loves to be nearby either on the back of your chair or your shoulder.  He has a repertoire of chirps and whistles and sounds though he is not as loud as other parrots.   Birds are naturally messy so bathing or a mist shower as well as regular cage cleaning is a must for their health.  Potential adopters should be aware of the hazards presented by household items including (& not limited to) cookware coatings, scents (candles, perfumes, etc.) cleaning products, insecticides and/or pesticides as well as some houseplants and food items that may be toxic to birds. Kusu is a 1 year old, fairly typical Anatolian Shepherd who enjoys affection, but also enjoys being outside on patrol.  He likes to take in his surroundings and enjoys the companionship of female dogs and other species. Kusu is crate trained but requires a solid crate as he will look for weakness in crate and when none are found he will relax and snooze.  Kusu is fine with all critters, unless they are challenging him for food and he is good with kids, small dogs, big dogs, female dogs.  He is NOT good with male dogs.  Kusu enjoys walks and walks nicely with loose lead. He doesn't pull on the leash, but due to the breed and size, he will need continued work. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Link is an approximately 4 year old Aussie mix (believed to be an Aussie/Golden mix).  Link is a very good boy who wants to be part of a family but needs time to adjust. He’s sweet and affectionate, not aggressive in anyway but will excuse himself from a situation if he’s overwhelmed. He is crate trained and uses his crate as his safe space. He is also house trained. He is working on his leash skills – does pull but is non reactive. He gives licks and wags his tail a lot. He’s just started trying to play with the other dogs when they have a ball, but he’s happy to run with them. Link was born with one underdeveloped eye but sees well with the other and has no limitations.  He came from a terrible hoarding case and will take time, patience, and a commitment to positive, kind, and respect based training.  Link would prefer a home with another dog and a fenced yard.  He will be neutered in the coming weeks. Mitch is a handsome, approximately 2 year old, happy terrier mix who loves to be close to his people. He naps like a champ but is ready to party at the drop of a hat. He is sweet and affectionate, always close by his foster mom. Mitch will happily play with his foster dog siblings, but doesn't tend to instigate. Mitch has quickly learned to use the dog door and house training is going very well. He rides well in the car and is working on leash manners. Mitch loves to be in the middle of the action, whether that's watching TV or playing outside and would be a great family companion. Mitch, as a terrier, will have the tendency to chase things that run in order to play. When cat tested, he did not react to a resting cat, but did want to chase a running cat. Therefore if he goes to a home with cats they need to be very dog savvy and able to be properly and slowly acclimated and given a space to be kept apart.  Mitch will be available after his neuter in the coming weeks. Otter is not your grandma's Cocker Spaniel - he's a dynamic, high-energy companion ready for adventure! This lively 6-month-old English Field Cocker Spaniel is a little bundle of energy packed with enthusiasm and overflowing with love. Otter is both crate and house trained, and he gets along wonderfully with dogs, kids, and adults alike. He's a quick learner and has already mastered basic commands such as sit, stay, down, and come, although he's still working on extending his attention span because his boundless energy and excitement gives him a serious case of the wiggles. He's non-reactive on a leash, but he's currently improving his manners as he tends to pull from sheer excitement. Otter's happiness knows no bounds, and he's bursting with enthusiasm for all things in life. With his lightning-fast speed and natural talent for fetching balls and frisbees, he has the potential to become a true master of disc sports. We're looking for a family who would love to train him in a dog sport like disc dog, agility, or scent work, as Otter thrives on excitement and activity. This spirited boy is a joy to work with and will flourish with an experienced owner. Adopters must: 1) be local (within one hour of 22974) and agree to attend training classes at GDU or 2) have extensive experience with a working breed to qualify. Striker is a smart, affectionate almost 5 month old boy who loves his humans. He follows his foster mom everywhere and just wants to be part of the pack. He is great with other dogs and kids. Sometimes new environments can be stressful for him, but with classical conditioning and a little distance he works through it quickly and is completely fine. He loves to train, run, play, and learn. He is deaf, learns cues quickly, and would be awesome at any dog sport he tries. He needs exercise for his body and brain. He is definitely not a couch potato. Striker needs a family who is going to keep his body and mind busy so he can thrive. Amazing Pup who anyone would love having him in our family. Herding experienced adopters preferred. You can fill out an application here: https://greendogsunleashed.org While we do allow out of state adoptions, the adopter must be able to travel to Charlottesville, Virginia and meet in person at an agreed upon time to take their cat home. GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of $125.00 for cats. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes age appropriate vaccines and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. show less

Tux is by far the feistiest! He’s very purry and never sits still, unless it is to eat as he loves food! At the time you are seeing this post, this cat is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application if you are interested in any of our animals. The application can be found at https://greendogsunleashed.org. If you send an inquiry to ask if the cat is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: We will send you an email if additional information is needed, so lease keep an eye on your inbox AND spam folders. */*/* Young kittens will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
