Cricket says, I HEAR you're looking to adopt a great pup!"  As a hound/terrier mix, Cricket is a sweet, smart, happy girl.  She has a little mousy nose and the cutest ears. For such a little girl, she lives her life to the fullest! She doesn't let anything hold her back and can play and snuggle for hours as long as you are giving her attention! She loves to play chase with other dogs, she adores toys and is always happy to greet her people.  Because she is still a puppy, she likes to run and burn off energy, so we recommend a solid fenced yard for her to open up in.  If no fenced yard, she needs an active family that is committed to walking her and playing with her regularly. Too much idle time can lead to mischief. Cricket is a smart cookie too. She is working on her sit command and pretty much has it down, but can be easily distracted and lose focus due to her age. She has a cute protective bark when she hears or sees someone or something she isnt' familiar with which is nice if someone is approaching your home. It’s an endearing trademark but doesn’t make her a good apartment dog.  She is not good with cats since she likes to chase them. She likes to playfully chew since she is still young, so she will need a family ready to take on the puppy stages and keep her both entertained, using positive reinforcement training to build her social skills and boundaries.  She is working hard on her potty training.  She prefers to go outside,  but she hasn't figured out how to signal when she needs to go--we are so close. She is very good about going on the puppy pad indoors.  She has taken to the leash very easily, but she will still need leash training in her future.  All of these things are part of the fun of having a puppy and helping them learn. If you are ready to give Cricket the fun, loving home that she deserves then please fill out an application. As part of Cricket’s $275 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on flea and heartworm prevention.  If you have questions about this puppy, you can email dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt her, you can fill in an online application for her under adoption profile on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

This Wonder Woman, Destiny, is looking for her super hero family!  She has a big, happy infectious personality!  You meet her; you love her! She is all smiles, wiggles and just absolutely makes you smile! After looking at Destiny's pictures, can you tell what her favorite summer activity is?  If playing in the pool is one of your family favorite past-times, you must meet Destiny.  She loves kids and other dogs so everyone can jump in together!  POOL PARTY PLEASE! Destiny is waiting for her forever mommy or daddy to show up and give her the kind of home and love she deserves. First, look at all her fun pictures. Have you ever seen such soulful, beautiful eyes? And coat – pure velvet!   Destiny says, "I'm almost 3 years old and I’ve learned all kinds of new things. My foster mommy says I’m an angel and I hear her tell her friends that I’m smart, catch on very fast, and listen to her really well. She loves me extra-special ‘cause I’m sweet and love to snuggle and play with her and the other dogs she has.  I get along with other dogs, big ones and little ones, plus I never potty in the house and go in/out of my crate when asked to. I am the best walking buddy you'll ever have – I don’t pull on my leash and I’ve learned to sit down when we stop for anything. I’ve learned to sit when mommy says and am learning to stay and recall. I’m very friendly too, and love to meet and play with kids and big people – everybody really. I love to play with cats, too, but they don’t like me so much – guess I’m bigger than they are and scare them, but I never growl at them – I just love to play! I’m about 64 lbs., mommy thinks this is the size I’ll stay – perfect, of course! I have very strong opinions on the proper habitat for my gorgeous self which involve a fenced yard for me to play in with another fur sibling, preferably about my same size or a little bigger and same energy level, an active mommy/daddy/family who will take me on walks and car rides and play with me, lots of tough toys, chew toys/bones, luxurious accommodations like your bed for me to sleep in, and a warm spot like your knee for me to rest my head and get snuggles and hugs every night. I love kids and do well with them when they are older so any kids 8 and up would be perfect playmates. (BTW, even though I like to sleep on the bed with my humans, I do great in my crate, too, as long as it’s comfortable.) I want a mommy or daddy of my own and would love a family, along with another dog to play with!! I also need a fenced back yard to really get my play on. Are you my forever mommy or daddy? If you think you might be, reach out to the good folks at Paws for life and you can talk to my foster mom to learn more about me, maybe meet me, so we can find out." My adoption fee is $250.  I am spayed, micro-chipped, and current on all age-appropriate vaccinations and monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventives. If you have any questions about me, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org or apply for me at www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

This boy has a SMILE FOR DAYS!  Never have a bad day with Donnie's big, happy, infectious love in your life. Donnie is a big snuggle bug. If you need a kiss; Donnie can help! He loves his people and showering them with affection! He is so happy all of the time that his little Boxer-nub of a tail goes a mile a minute and makes his whole hind-end wiggle, wiggle, wiggle!  Donnie is a big boy but still wants to be a lap dog.  Missing his front leg only makes it easier to get closer to his people.  He does not let it slow him down.  AT.  ALL!  He loves playing with his foster family's dog and play with toys.  He is big but very gentle even with the littlest dogs in the home.  He likes to go for walks but is just as happy spending time at home.  With 3 legs, a little walk goes a long way for him.  Then he is ready to curl up next to you, snuggle and snore!  He LOVES being with his people! He will let you know when it is breakfast and dinner time.  He is a respectful eater and very treat motivated for training.  Donnie is a big boy but has done great with his foster siblings.  He was even a home with a tiny Yorkie and was so good.  He will probably need to be in a home with dog savvy kids, just based on his size and lack of care for personal space.  He neeeeeds to love you, immediately, without care of who or what he has to go over, through, or by! He does fine while home alone and is not crate trained from what we can tell. He is very smart and is doing well learning his commands. He would love a home where he could get snuggles and hugs and kisses all day, walks and a nice fenced back yard! Meet Donnie!  He is a 2-year-old, 65lb male Boxer mix. As part of Donnie's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Donnie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

(DOB 10/13/2021) Due to Francesco's young age, he has not yet been neutered.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  Francesco is a playful hound puppy that is inquisitive by nature and loves to explore all the sights, sounds and smells around him.  Like a typical puppy, he has bursts of energy followed by long, leisurely naps.  He is a natural cuddler and enjoys lap time and being held. He’ll follow you everywhere and is an expert at getting under your feet. He is a bit more outgoing than his littermates.  He enjoys playing with other dogs but will do fine as an only one if his family will give him lots of attention and exercise. He is doing great on his house training and leash walking.   Training is a great way to build a loving, trusting relationship so he is hoping his new forever family will be committed to helping him learn these important life skills.  Scheduling a formal puppy training class would be ideal. As part of Francesco’s' $275 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit is due at the time of adoption.  The deposit will be refunded once the puppy has been altered. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Francesco, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Jeorge loves walking his human siblings to school each morning.  He is living w/a foster family that has 3 small kids and is well behaved around them.  Jeorge also lives with 2 female dogs and foster puppies, so he is learning a lot about socialization and living in a fun household. His ideal family would be one that would shower him with love, be patient and have lots of toys to play.  He is on the shyer side, so an adopter willing to continue to take him for walks, introduce him to new people and new things is great way for him to socialize and continue to build his confidence.  Jeorge is fine around strangers, but is still a bit shy/timid until they get to know new people.  That said, he really only likes the ladies, so let's skip male dogs for Jeorge. He needs another pup in his fur-ever family to keep him company, so we are looking for an adoptive family having a sister sibling(s).  As far as cats go, we aren't sure yet as he hasn't had an opportunity to meet a kittie. Do you spend time in the car and want a traveling companion that won't "bark" orders on how to drive? Jeorge loves the car and is a road trip fanatic!  When not road trippin', Jeorge loves the outdoors. Jeorge could be a good fit for apartment living as long as his new family makes sure he gets appropriate exercise, playtime, and walks.  He really does love being outside so make sure you take that into consideration. He loves the fenced yard of his fosters home and will spend hours outside enjoying nature. If you have a fence with 4-5 ft, that would be cool for Jeorge. As a sweet foster boy, Jeorge is playful, loves squeaker, soft & chew toys. He is food/treat motivated so learning new commands or tricks would be a great way to continue to build your relationship with Jeorge.  He is already crate trained and sleeps in his crate. Jorge is also a great "work from home compainion." He patiently sits in his kennel in the office and is so quiet when his human dad is working. He also loves a "foot massage" - check out his video and see if makes you chuckle a little! He is a 1.5-year-old, 35lb male Lab mix.   As part of Jeorge's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Jeorge, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Khloey is always up for playing with humans or dogs as she has a lot young energy.  A home with a large fenced in yard is a must as she enjoys daily runs and the hound in her loves to run and play!   This girl is a very quick learner she understands sit, down, paw, stay, and come (watch video).  She loves to go for walks and is learning to not pull.   She is highly food motivated and her stomach prefers chicken and rice kibble. If you want a loving companion, you are home most of the time, you enjoy a quick learner who needs a bit more training, and are ready to create a forever bond, Khloey is your girl. Khloey does well with other dogs in the home if she can be the "one in charge."  She is a bit too interested in cats, so she will pass on homes with those silly kitties.  She would do best in a home knowledgeable dog owners and older kids.  She is a beautiful 2-year-old hound/terrier mix with long legs and a slender body. At about 30-35 lbs she has so much love and snuggles to offer.  She is house trained and crate trained and loves her beauty sleep.  As part of Khloey's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Khloey, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Marshmallow is ready to join her family. This sweet girl is dog friendly and loves to play! She would make an awesome walking or jogging partner.  She is is spirited, sparkly and spunky!  If you describe yourself similarly, then this girl may be your paw-fect match! She is very sweet and likes to snuggle up next to you as well.  She will give you kisses but isn't "in your face."  Older kids would be great because of her size and enegry   This girl is smart and listens well.  In the short time she has been in foster care, she already knows "Look", "Sit" and learning "Down".  She is learning loose leash walking but is easily distracted with things like kids running, squirels scurring, and she wants to run with them.  She is still learning to not pull on a leash and doing well with positive reinforcement.  She is very smart, listens well and food/treat motivated. She will make a perfect companion   Marshmallow would love to go out and about with you.  She enjoys her weekly lunch date with friends, so would love going out with you in the future.  She doesn't really like sharing her food or treats with other pups, so share those seperately. She is a 5-year-old, 57lb female Dogo Argentino/Shepherd mix.  She has rear dewclaws, so maybe she has some Husky or Great Pyrenees mixed in?  She has the best ears that stand at attention when she is focused on something.  The backs of them have cute black spots and it gives her some pizzazz!  She has the happiest and biggest smile that is contagious! As part of Marshmallow's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. She is Heartworm negative.  If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Marshmallow, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

A meet and greet genius. Max loves all people including children. He knows NO stranger. He loves being with his humans. He will be happy to jump on your lap, throw up his legs, and enjoy a wonderful belly rub! Max has good leash manners and really enjoys daily walks.  Max is really good with submissive dogs. He just doesn't like pups that are pushy for attention, want to play, play, play and are all "up in his face". He would be good with another dog in the home that has a chill personality, so if you have a dog that likes to chill, older, independent = great. He would also be fine as an only dog. "Max-isms" Happy, Snuggler, Lap dog, Kisser/Licker, Gentle/Sweet, Social with people, Social with kids, Loves attention, Loves to get pets, Loves belly rubs, Lazy/Couch potato. Does this sound like your kind of soul mate? We also know Max can be a door dasher (and not the kind that brings food deliveries), so parents that make sure they monitor access for safety is important. Max loves food and is food motivated so ongoing training with Max should be easy and fun. An ideal home in Max's world would be, "Have humans to love him and either animals that aren't looking for a playmate or only pet. He lives cohesively with his foster home with other dogs.  He is not good with cats or other small animals." Max is already house and crate trained. Max is good in the car; however, sometimes feels a bit car sick. Likely, with more slow practice, anti-nause meds, and timing he will continue to do better on car rides. Max isn't that big and does NOT require a fence. He would need playtime and walks as an alternative. Max is eligible for local adoption only (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest) while he waits for his heartworm treatment. Please don't let his heartworm status bother you. The rescue will cover the cost of his treatment, even after adoption.  Max is a 2-year-old, 43lb male Hound mix.  He is new to our rescue - we will update his bio as we learn more about this wonderful guy! As part of Max's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. ive.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Brewster, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less
