In order to support you in caring for your new fur kid, the following items are provided: A harness, a lead, a bed, blankets(for Chihuahuas), a small bag of dog food, treats, toys, and two months of flea and heart preventative. Complete medicals have been performed on all fur kids, including but not limited to spay/neuter, vaccines, microchips, bloodwork, and dentals(if needed). All records are provided at the time of adoption. Adoption fees can be paid by a bank or personal check, paypal, or cash. Adoption donations, are without exception, non-refundable. If your current or previous pets are not altered or have not been kept up- to- date on shots, heartworm prevention and well-care, this application will be discarded. We need to know as much about you as possible before we consider approving or denying your application. The information you provide on our application will help us determine the best possible match for you, as well as for the dog. Please answer all of the questions honestly, as there are no right or wrong answers. Canine Estates relies on your donations to care for all of the homeless dogs in our care. The adoption fee is considered a donation and helps defray the costs of veterinary care given to your dog prior to adoption, as listed above. Your adoption donation also helps to feed, house, and provide veterinary care for all of the dogs still in our care, and is NON- REFUNDABLE. We do not sell dogs, we rescue them, you are not buying a dog, you are making a donation. Out- of- state adoptions are acceptable with approval, but we do not ship our companion dogs and adopting families must come to Canine Estates to complete the adoption. Sorry, no exceptions.

Update 3/20/2021: Unfortunately, Papa Bear has been returned to us after a month in a new home. We will only be accepting applications from someone very experienced with dog behavioral problems and/or a professional trainer. 3 year old Papa Bear is one of our special boys, and he's just so handsome! Short and stocky at 40lbs, he is a corgi golden retriever mix with a thick golden coat and a perfect white blaze on his face. He is vocal when happy, cuddles like a pro, loves toys, and gives the best kisses. He has some behavioral challenges that we are confident he can overcome with the right guidance, but for this reason we will only approve applicants who are experienced with difficult dogs and who will agree to professional behavioral training. We also require a home with a fenced yard, and one without children. Please do not apply if you cannot commit to these requirements. Papa Bear gets along with some dogs and not others, and has shown some resource guarding of toys, food, and people. We have not tested him with cats. With people he is very wiggly, happy, and sweet 95% of the time, but will challenge and snap at his humans when he doesn't want to follow directions. He also has some car ride and leash issues that he has been working on. He will need to be sedated for vet trips and bathing, although he has learned to accept being brushed recently.  We know the right home is out there for Papa Bear, and we are confident someone will see the good boy he is and help him become a once in a lifetime dog in his forever home. Please fill out an application and we will call you once approved to set up a meet and greet. If you have any questions, email jessica.canineestates@gmail.com or call 908-305-9155 show less

Welcome Potatoes! Potatoes is ALL chihuahua personality and a lot of love rolled into a chubby 11lb package. He is about 7 years old and healthy, though he can stand to lose a pound or two. Potatoes is super affectionate and will jump into your lap once he knows you and loves to play, run, and give kisses, but he does take time to get comfortable with the people he meets and does not tolerate being picked up or handled too quickly. His first impression is often not great as he does exercise caution with new people. He does prefer his feet on the ground but will accept his fate if he's picked up with slowly or with a blanket, and once he's in your arms he is a good boy. His personality is really the best, he loves food and toys, saying hi to his favorite people, and snuggles like a champ. He has started to show some resource guarding of his bed and toys. He doesn't really play with too many dogs but also doesn't mind them in his space. He would likely be fine with cats with proper introductions, but because of his feisty attitude, we will not be adopting him to a home with children. Potatoes is up to date on everything including a recent dental and ready for a home of his own. Please fill out an application and we will call you once approved to set up a meet and greet.
